Maggie had been doing her best to put the books down and patrol every night--try to find anyone hurt, try to find Rachel Grey or any of the other brainwashing victims. She was out downtown, trying very hard NOT to raid the nearest newsstand and buy a third copy of the latest bestseller paperback, when she heard the commotion ( ... )

Kaiba is not in fact, going out of his way to beat people up. If a hapless person happened to be in his path, they were violently shoved out of the way. The blank faces that showed in his path were meaningless and doing nothing but stopping him.

The blank faces that surrounded him were meaningless and doing nothing but stopping him. As long as they could be moved, he didn't need to do anything more. When a faceless man rounded on him for knocking someone else out of the way, he was quickly taken care of by the sharp edge of a duel disk to his head.

The continued hallucination of the screams were mingled with something else now. A roar, he would normally recognize instantly, but was currently drowned out. It wasn’t the same as the scream. It came from somewhere else but he couldn’t make out it’s meaning. A warning? Encouragement? It didn’t matter right now.

Sorry, I wasn't sure what he was doing/how to get involved. Pls. advise if I go the wrong way! origamiguardian September 30 2010, 02:51:42 UTC
Maggie saw the man cut down by the disk; he wasn't attacking anyone but he was hurting, maybe killing anyone who confronted him.

She pushed anyone nearby back with the wall, and then retracted the paper into her sleeves, not wanting to create something else to piss him off. She would be ready to knock away with a minion anyone who tried to interfere.

Her eyes narrowed. She recognized him. Just vaguely, from her previous visit to the City. The man who had insisted little Aki hadn't summoned the monsters from the cards. The man who didn't care what mayhem happened at events he himself sponsored as long as he couldn't be held responsible. Her memories of him were vague, and largely of her own frustration with him. But she did remember, he was cool, collected, articulate. Not like this.

She approached, just a step or two, still keeping a wide berth between them. "Sir. SIR. What's wrong? What's going on?"

The papers vibrated in her hands with anticipation.

No worries! I should have had more action with my introspection. ceodragon September 30 2010, 03:09:39 UTC
Since the hallucinations were mostly verbal in nature, he still had an idea of what was happening around him. The paper pushing everyone back caught his attention and drew his eyes to the new woman in his way. Unlike the others who had just been in his way, she was going out of her way to be.

He stopped and stared at the faceless challenger, breathing hard. "Where is he?" he shouted back. He heard his name called again. He had to keep moving. "Tell me or get out of my way!"

It didn't take more than a few words of consulation with Bakura to agree that something was seriously wrong with Kaiba. And without any answers, they had to go and seek him out to get some. That was why the two of them blasted out of the apartment rather quickly and headed out on Alastair's motorcycle.

Alastair was familiar enough with most of the streets to approximate, based on the background images in the video, whereabouts Kaiba might be, but they still had a bit of a drive and a search. It wasn't hard to locate the commotion, though, it was a much clearer sign than some grainy comm video. Alastair screeched up to a curb and flipped up the visor of his helmet to get a clear look.

"Maybe. Something definitely happened here, I'd say we just missed it." Not that things didn't happen in the City nearly every day, but his instincts told him he was in the right neighborhood.

Alastair glanced back at his passenger. "Keep an eye out. If he's got a car or something, I'll have to start up again and chase him down."

Bruno had been spending a lot of the past couple weeks trying to generally keep out of peoples' way. He wasn't making a very big deal of it, but there were a lot of little reasons. The whole... thing with Fakir was one, more a source of vague embarrassment than anything. The brainwashing incidents were the other.

He may not have been posting much, but he tried to check up on the Network at least once or twice a week, and all the talk (and gruesome demonstrations) of people being 'reprogrammed' without even their closest friends knowing had... had hit him deep down in some way. Bruno didn't dream much, but he still had little nightmares sometimes about what he had done back when the robots had attacked. And he knew it was irrational because he couldn't think of having had any un-accounted for time or any of the other warning signs, but the thought of suddenly being puppetted to turn on his friends... it almost made him shudder and clutch himself. Sure there were a lot of people with powerful abilities here, but Bruno could kill ( ... )

Bruno became just another of the faceless masses that surrounded Kaiba. If he stayed out of Kaiba's way, he wouldn't even notice him. It took someone getting in his way to even register. No sounds could be heard over his visions.
