It was easy enough to see who was knocking on the door without answering it thanks to Babs's bordering on paranoid security system. And Cass was under strict orders not to let him in. Still, she needed to send the proper message.

She opened the door just enough so that Josh could see her (rather unamused) face, and then immediately began to shut it again without saying a word.

Josh opened his mouth to say something when the door started to open but before he could say anything, whoever had opened it shut it right in his face. He didn't recognize the girl, but Charlie had mentioned something about another roommate. Apparently she had told them what happened and Josh was persona non grata.

"Oh come on," he said, pounding on the door again. This was starting to get ridiculous. "Just let me explain! It's not what she thinks!"

After a few moments of silence, the door opened slightly. This time all he got was an eye peeking through the crack.

"Go away," she muttered, the unspoken threat being 'or else.' Still, she didn't slam the door in his face this time, and waited to see if she was going to have to run him off.

"Look, just give this letter to her," Josh said, slipping it through the crack. He was desperate now and willing to try just about anything.

"Scatty and I were just sparring, she thinks we were doing something else but we weren't, I swear. Look, even if she never talks to me again, I want her to know just so she doesn't have to keep hurting, okay?"
