[Sheldon was at the bar. He wanted to get away from his MAC apartment since it was steadily becoming way too small to live in when he's decided to make a few purchases and accumulating some paperwork along the way. He's starting files on everyone he's met and each one is categorized. Nice to know that Big Brother's watching even if he lives among the crowd.

He looks up from his newspaper and slips his pen behind his ear.]

Well, well. Look who's finally decided to come out and join the land of the living. This is the second time we've met at a bar.

[He's nursing a glass of Sprite with a lime.]

[ Elisa laughs slightly. ] Don't let it get out the that Commissioner is actually a member of the undead. And it must be fate.

How's the leg healing up?

That's good. If you were part of a secret undead army, well, I won't tell if you won't.

[Her comment earns a chuckle.]

Oh, as well as to be expected. I started my physical therapy yesterday. The nurse...is a behemoth. [He smirks.] I'm told I'm doing pretty good so far and since I want to climb again, I'll have to make sure that I don't over do it, you know.

[He chuckles softly.]

It's good to see you again.

[He looks back at his newspaper that appears to be housing listings.]

Recommend any good neighborhoods?

How sweet of you. But I think you can check with Seras and Aaron to find out that I'm not undead yet.

[ Her smirk widens at his remarks about the nurses. ] Oh, I have absolutely no doubt you're being a handful. I think I was the worst patient ever when I was in the hospital; kept wanting to get up and go be useful instead of sitting back doing nothing.

And it's good to see you, too. As far as neighborhoods go, well, what's your price point?

Nothing over a grand a month is preferred but I'm looking at getting a roommate sooo that can change a little.

[He looks at another listing, grimaces and crosses it out passionately.]

Nurses....[laughs] they have this idea in their head that I'm this little guy with a huge inferiority complex. I'm not that bad. Cocky, yes, but not moronic to the point where I could cause myself to suffer permanent damage.

You wanna stay on the Island or commute from one of the other boroughs?

[ She frowns sympathetically at his abuse of the listings. ]

Nurses are like an overbearing mother. They know best and won't be dissuaded otherwise, and heaven help you if you actively ignore them.

I want to go climbing again so I'll have to listen.

[He slips his pen behind his ear again to take a drink from his Sprite.]

I'll have to consider which option offers the best cost and which one is better suited for the need at hand.

[He sets the glass down gently, staring at the ice.]

I've got a lead on a good realitor though. What can you tell me about Matt Murdock?

[He's got a pretty good idea already, he's wanting another assessment from someone else.]

Matt Murdock?

[ Elisa wracks her brain. ] Not much beyond the simple chatter on the comms. He hasn't raised any red flags, though, and I do try to keep tabs on people in the comms.

So he's pretty neutral in your book. I can deal with that. Now this gives me a fairly good reason to keep an eye on him.

[He takes another sip.]

What are you having? I'll buy this round.

[ Elisa shrugs. ]

It's less that he's neutral and more that I don't know enough about the guy to make an opinion.

And whiskey sour, thanks.

Ooh, you like it strong.

[He makes the order and nods.]

I hear that. Hey, I have a friend that's looking for something more meaningful. Do you think that you can give her a job? I sent her your way but we'll have to see how she works out in the interview, right?

Has a Jaime Sommers come in contact with you?

Not yet, but I admit I've been horrible about phone calls lately. Sometimes it's nicer just to play hooky, even if only for a few hours.

So tell me about her.

sands_in_mexico August 25 2010, 21:58:40 UTC
Playing hooky is a temporary vacation. You're not in the wrong for doing it.

[He took a moment to collect his thoughts about Jaime in an objective way without using his personal feelings to cloud his assessment.]

For starters, she's intelligent, witty, and she's got a good head on her shoulders while she exercises a pretty good system of judgment. She's experienced in field work and she knows how to use her mind in the right way.

She's a school teacher with a mind for doing the right thing. She's not like me at all on the whole. She's trustworthy, honest and very mindful of her duties. She's a big girl and she certainly knows how to take care of herself in a fight.

[He wants to tell more but he'll leave that up to Jaime to decide on talking about the bionics or not. She trusted him with her secret and he will protect it at any cost.]

Hey, I'd rather play hooky and be sane than to completely lose my perspective.

[ Elisa's lips curve into a teasing smirk. ]

So how long have you been dating her?

[He nearly chocked on his drink.]

What?

[Eyes wide, his pen falls out from behind his ear from his head whipping around toward Elisa.]

We're good friends. That's all.

[His expression gave another meaning. He wants it to be something more but it's not going to be that easy to shake.]
