[Courtney had noticed the girl running towards the mesuem about a block back, and had followed her mostly out of bored curiosity. Patrolling really was rather dull. Still, when she prowled her way to a window and peered inside, the blonde hero decided she really should step in.]

[So she came hocering up behind the woman, dressed in her stargirl costume and sitting on the floating, glowing cosmic rod. Her arms were crossed, and she tried to look firm but was probably failing.]

I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to be here.

[ Sigh. The appearance of someone else was probably inevitable. If the activity level on the Network was any indication, the City was practically swarming with vigilantes. Ten turned to see a girl, who looked about her age, floating on some sort of broomstick. Her hands went to her hips as she bit back the urge to tell her to run along. ]

I could say the same thing about you, you know, but I think we're both doing the same thing. I thought I saw something moving inside, so I stopped for a better look. Turns out it was the guard.

[The girls costume seemed familiar somehow, but Courtney honestly wasn't sure why. She'd probably seen it, or something like it, in the JSA files she often wasted time rummaging through back home.]

Hey, I'm only here because I saw you. A guard, huh?

[She wasn't sure she believed her, and she floated forward a foot or two to peer past her at the window, looking for the guard she mentioned.]

[ There had, in fact, been a guard. That part wasn't a lie. Ten had been curious about what path he took. Grudgingly, she pointed out where you could still make out the flashlight. ]

Down through that door. There, see how the light's brightness kinda bops along?

[ And cross this off the list of potentials. ]

[Courtney floated back away from the building again.]

Okay, sorry.

[She'd believe her...for now, at least. Courtney was friendly, not stupid. Still, if the girl wasn't a crook, the costume and the rooftop snooping would paint her as a hero, right? Might as well be friendly.]

So are you out running a patrol?

[ She grins through the mask. ]

Actually, I was just trying to figure out where everything is from above. The best routes to take. I'm not sure if I'm going to make this - patrolling - a habit though.

It is kinda easy to get lost, huh? Especially up here. This place is kind of like my New York back home but not...quite. Still, I cheat.

[She tapped the Cosmic Staff in indication of her cheatingness.]

I only really come out and patrol when I'm restless. I was never really the...local crime type, I guess.

Yeah. I'm pretty quick about learning new cities though. It's easier from up here, I think.

[ Her gaze shifts to the staff with a nod. Ten's curious about it. ] That must come in pretty handy. It's not actually on fire...?

Yeah. Most cities are like that. My hometown, floating above you can see the whole thing without an issues. It's kinda tiny though.

[She shrugged and shifted off the staff...though she was still floating without much trouble as she held it out in front of her...not close enough that the other girl could grab it, though. Whatever field it was that made the staff fly seemed to still be holding her up.]

It's Cosmic Energy, so it glows. And shoots lasers.

[ She laughed a little. ]

Lasers, huh? You don't mess around, do you?

[Courtney twisted around, pulling staff back until she was sitting on it once again.]

It's fancy tech based on alien technology. I think stuff like that is required to shoot lasers.

[ Too bad that it's a staff and not a scepter or something. Still... ]

You weren't kidding went you said you weren't on a local scene.

[ Beat. ]

You don't really expect me to believe in aliens, do you?

Well, I'm human! I was born in LA. But the staff belonged to Starman. Well, kinda. It's a copy of...oh, never mind. It's a stupid story.

[She blinked in genuine surprise at that second statement though.]

What? Why not? I mean, there's Superman, and the Martian Manhunter, and most of the Green Lanterns, and Starfire...lots of aliens.
