"Morning, Charlie," Barbara said pleasantly enough, and for a moment it looked like that would be all. Then she pressed the button that sent her systems into sleeping mode and turned her wheelchair around to face Charlie. The primary expression was amusement, but it was a bit arch, with slightly raised eyebrows, some kind of expectancy. She rested her elbows on the arms of her chair and steepled her fingers together with interest.

"So, where are you and Josh going?" Because really, you didn't need to be Batman to figure out what had happened last night.

Crud. Where was the pre-investigation witty banter? Charlie stopped mid-spoonful of cereal to stare at Babs for a couple seconds, and then quickly ate it to give herself a moment to think. "Uhm." Chew chew chew. Swallow.

"He said a movie, maybe? And I guess like...something to eat? That's how these things go, right?" She paused. "Wait, how'd you know he asked me on a date?" Not that she should've wondered, since this was Oracle, but...still.

"Because that's how these things go," she answered, echoing Charlie. "And I'm glad you're getting out there and making friends. It wasn't that hard, see?"

Though Babs hoped she wasn't trying to live through Charlie vicariously. It wasn't that she herself hadn't had friends growing up, but she hadn't had many. She'd moved through the school system too fast, too young. And it wasn't even worth talking about Katarina.

"Why'd you take Josh here, though?"

Charlie smiled and nodded her head. "It's a lot easier 'cause of xaviers too, I think." Charlie wouldn't actually admit it, but she was almost looking forward to the summer being over. Almost. "It was way harder back home."

She trailed off at Babs's second question and just sort of shrugged. "He said he needed to talk to me and I was already here and had my shoes off and just...I don't know. It seemed easier!" She waved her spoon vaguely in the air.

"I made sure everything secret was blocked off and stuff!"
