All in all, it was a nice spot. The cross winds were fierce this high up, but Grimmjow hardly minded. In fact, he liked being able to lean against the howling gale, and still stand upright. Far below, the traffic, and the people went to, and fro about their little lives. In a weird way, it reminded the former Espada of life before being stuck here. This City. This human body. And all the strangeness in between.
Not for the first time he cracked a sardonic, mirthless smile at the irony of this whole "deal". The one guy - and a kid at that - who Grimmjow could honestly say he despised above most others was supposed to meet him up here. Meet him, so Grimmjow could teach him what he knew about Aizen. It's precious little, though. No one really knew much about the lord of Las Noches, arrancar, and shinigami alike had only ever seen the face that Aizen chose to present them with.
...But, Grimmjow had been on the receiving end of that monstrous power, before. He knew enough to know that as things stood, Kurosaki had no idea what he was in for.
And maybe there's more to this than Grimmjow was quite ready to admit to, yet. Maybe this concept of "helping" Ichigo has more to do with the fact that Grimmjow very clearly remembered the way that kid had willingly withheld the killing blow. The way Ichigo had stepped up to take on Nnoitra, and though the latter was for Kurosaki's own reasons, Grimmjow couldn't wrap his head around why. Why not just let him die? It wasn't like Grimmjow was somehow a lesser threat - at least as far as the shinigami should be concerned, right?
Maybe, then, the answer is as simple, and complex as that. The conviction, and...well, Grimmjow couldn't exactly give a name to whatever it is he saw in Ichigo, just that it burned brightly, and so fierce that even other people saw it shining out from the kid's eyes. Maybe, it's just hope.
