Ryan was sitting around in the coffeeshop, drinking ridiculously-priced coffee and waiting for something to happen. There were some interesting people around, but the girl standing in line was pretty interesting. He wondered what she was doing getting coffee, she seemed pretty young.

Ema ordered her coffee and went to find a table, eventually sitting relatively close to Ryan. She took out a notebook and began to flip through it, reanalyzing her notes.

"Hey," Ryan said conversationally, "studying for a class or something?"

He was genuinely interested, but mostly he expected her to blow him off or pretend he didn't exist. That's how these things usually went, anyway.

Ema looked up and, not being the kind to blow anyone off, shook her head, "I'm going over my collected data from a couple experiments I ran." she answered truthfully, smiling as though this was not strange at all.

To Ryan, actually, it wasn't really. He had dealt with Gabriella, and there really wasn't anything odd to him about girls with brown hair being (supremely nice) total science geeks.

"That's pretty awesome, what kind of experiments were they?"
