She wasn't sure what to feel now that she was here. Knowing that Jay had come and gone, worried for him and curious at the same time as greiving. The City had so far thrown her every curve-ball she could imagine and she was barely staying on her toes. So instead of trying to stay on them, Paige had opted for something that seemed exactly the same, no matter where she was. A movie. Something straight-to-DVD that was meant to keep her mind from wandering, but was doing a terrible job.
Her morning had been spent doing two essential things. Running, and then shopping. Not an indulgent shop, but a practical one. Discovering a small money linked to a card that had turned up on her person when she had arrived, Paige had bought herself the things she considered bare essentials. Underwear, shorts, jeans, shirts, toiletries. Those things were still in bags, Paige wearing the clothes she had arrived in as she stretched out across the length of the sofa, her fingers tugging through her hair as she stared at the television screen without really seeing it.Paige had travelled through dimensions in the last 24 hours. She deserved a little mindless downtime to get her head around what had happened, in private.
She pushed herself up into a sitting position, wrapping her arms around her bent knees as she continued to stare blankly at the television, her teeth worrying a cuticle as she did so. Had people at home noticed she had gone? Did it even register with them that she was missing? Or would time stand still for them? if she went back, how much could she change? Was there any controlling when she went back? The questions raced through her head, crashing into one another over and over again as she tried to order them.
For all its normalcy, this had to be one of the weirdest things to ever happen to her.
