It was such a nice day that Mary had decided to take a bit of a break and go out flying. Not on patrol (although she was keeping her eyes open for crime, of course), but just to get out and about. The potential war was on her mind, as it was on everyone's, but so was Raven's wedding and the upcoming prom. Amazing, really, how the little things took importance like that.
As she soared, she spotted a familiar figure stretched out upon a rooftop. She'd recognize that blue skin anywhere, and good for him for getting away from that awful face-mask and hood!
"Zelgadis!" she called, landing nearby and grinning.
For a second there he figured he just imagined it while dozing, but then there was a woosh and not of the wind-trying-to-blow-that-map-away variety. He squinted up at nothing but sky for a second before turning his head, blinking spots away. Even with a couple of those left to blink away, he could recognize the colors and the cape and the hair--
"Hey!" she said cheerfully. "How are you? Oh, gosh, I'm sorry, did I interrupting your nap?"
A grey t-shirt was a significant improvement from the beige tunic, but really, why did he go for such bland colors? Well, at least he was adapting to the City a bit better.
"I wasn't napping," Zelgadis lied, using his elbows to prop himself up and get to sitting upright. At least he wouldn't have to worry about sunburn (unless it made him turn purple; that would be cause for the hood again). He rubbed at an eye with the heel of his hand and blinked a few more times to get everything in focus. "What're you doing?"

"Sure it is," Mary replied, and she smiled at the server knowingly. The girl was still blushing and openly staring at Zelgadis. Gosh, she couldn't be much older than Mary herself. "Someone who's bad would just want to try anyway. You've got reservations about hurting people. How isn't that good?" She sipped on the soda and placed her order, grinning impishly at the server.
"Don't you think so, miss?"
The server, looking momentarily blindsided, responded nervously. "Ah, yes, that is, I think he doesn't look bad at all"
"There, you see, Zelgadis?" Mary said cheerfully, as though that settled it all.
Zelgadis had to work hard to keep his head from hitting the table with an almighty thunk-- it'd hurt more without stone skin. He gave Mary a big-eyed what are you doing this is embarrassing glare before shooting the look inadvertently at the girl. He winced when she winced, and all he could do (because the chance to save face was quite gone) was just mumble something he read off the menu and hand it over.
"You're secretly horrible," he accused when she was gone, face in hands.
Mary laughed outright at that. "I am no such thing!" Her giggles subsided for a moment before she added, "But I have probably been around Kitty too much. Aw, Zelgadis, don't be embarrassed! She thinks you're attractive! Our waitress, I mean."
"Anyone working for tips isn't going to call a paying customer ugly," he countered dryly, glaring up over his fingertips. No one called him attractive. Lina called him pretty once, but that involved a very mortifying state of dress and no shortage of lying...
He huffed, managing a wry smirk of sorts. "If you're so eager for that Elmekia Lance, though..."
