As for the infrastructure, I think we've got too many capes in one city. If we were organized as heroes, if we had some of the teams we had back home, if we had a purpose, it would be easier for us to care. But there's not enough threats like the one on Halloween for us to justify putting together teams and constantly training and building a reputation with the public. All we'd do is sit on our hands.
I also think there's not enough of us capes that are used to or invested in street-level work. Daredevil can do it pretty damn well. Me? I spent too much time as a spook to really be able to give the things like the gang wars and the drug dealers and so on and so forth the kind of attention they need. Does that mean I don't try to stop crimes when I see them? Of course not. But it's going to take time for me to learn how these things work from a hero's perspective and not an agent's.
People like me, people who are used to dealing with the supervillains and the global threats, need people like you telling us to get our asses in gear when it comes to the more domestic ones. So thank you for that, Mr. Vigilante.
