001 [Video]

[Of course, the first thing Alex does is drop his comm, but there's at least a flash of yellow before it hits the pavement and turns off again. Still, it's not long before he manages to halfway figure out how to kind of turn it on. There's a long shot of the MAC as Alex presses the phone to his ear.]

[ oh god Zuko sure hates his comm, he'll just wait until the screen stops shaking. ]

We all get one when we're ported here. I still don't know how it works.

[Alex does indeed stop shaking the comm, but the camera is focused on a wall instead of the blonde.]

I can't figure it out either. There's a guy that should be here. Beast. He's kind of good with technology.

[ Zuko can deal with that. His is probably pointed somewhere above the top of his head, they're so talented. ]

I don't know anyone here who goes by that name. But everyone here's good with these techno...things.

[The most talented. Alex pauses to consider that. Everyone? Well that kind of puts him at the bottom of the totem pole.]

We don't have to use these dorky things, do we?

[ He feels your pain. Mostly because he meant everyone except himself. ]

Well that's good news at least. [Oh now the video is spinning down back to the sidewalk because he's still trying to make sense of it and not be the only person who doesn't know how to use it. ]

Not when you remember they forced you to come here in the first place. [ This sure is exciting footage, Zuko's doing the whole brow furrowing thing now too, though he's actually not judging your life. ]

You can turn the picture off and just use it for talking into.

[There's a long, long pause from Alex. That would actually be useful to know, but he's not sure if he wants to ask how. Hnngh.]

I'm pretty sure it's one of these but--- [Wait, nope that turned it off.

And the feed turns back on but it's now somehow encrypted.]

[ O-oh, now Zuko really has no idea what's going on. He's about to start pushing buttons too when the feed pops back on and now he's just giving his comm a mightily confused sort of look. ]

Did you break it?

[Alex shakes his head in confusion, but it's only halfway visible as the camera is somewhat covered with his hand as he continues to press buttons. And the video stops, but his voice is still heard.]

I don't think so. I didn't do anything but press the buttons.

Maybe you should stop pushing buttons. I've tried that already and it doesn't work as well as you think it might.
