[The comm turns on to show a crowded street with throngs of spectators wearing red and white and waving flags. In the background there is a parade making its way down the avenue with people wearing distinctly foreign looking military uniforms and traditional looking garb. Red and white balloons are everywhere. It seems like the crowd is having a good time despite it being slightly overcast. A moment later, Laurie turns the camera on herself.]
It's the first Sunday in October. You all know what that means. [A pause.] It's the 74th Annual Pulaski Day Parade, in honor of the father of the American Cavalry, Revolutionary War hero and Polish nobleman Casimir Pulaski.
[She can't help but smile with a bit of pride at that. So much Polish pride right now.]
It got me thinking about heroes of all kinds, not just the people Lachesis brings here. War heroes, folk heroes, you know? The kind of people that get mentioned in history books, the kind they make biographical movies about, people who get their own holidays and parades. There're so many different universes, more than I can even imagine. I bet there's a ton of heroes I've never even heard of before.
So, who's your hero?
