002 - Second Sighting - Audio

Good evening, City. This is Gordon speaking.

While you good people were enjoying your ball this weekend, certain others of us have been working solidly on your behalf. In my case I've been sorting through a mess of paperwork and finding my feet. My role here at the CPD isn't quite the one I had at home, but given the circumstances of my previous ( Read more... )

Well, I have something of a working relationship with the legality of such arrests, if you want to get a preview for what you're going to see in court.

Of course. Anything you can add of your own experience to liven up the documents I have in front of me would of course be welcome, assuming I'm not keeping you.

Hah, I don't know about liven. I used to keep the anti-mask laws in my back pocket. You know that started because farmers were burning down their landlord's places-- Er, anyway.

Most of them tend to cuff under a citizen's arrest, or bring them straight to the clink, as I'm sure you know. That was always the "easiest" way to process them.

[Completely outside the realms of his knowledge so far, but there's only so much a man can learn in a week, and a wealth of information at hand. Maybe if he had superhuman filing powers.]

The easiest, fastest, most readily available route, yes. Captain Bauer filled me in on that much. The priority will continue to be getting them off the streets, since that's my brief, but as I'm sure you know that doesn't help forensics much. No testimony from the arresting officer means they have to work ten times as hard.

"Vigilante Liaison?" I guess you're pretty much used to that.

We used to do other things down at the MCU than just chase around after Batman, believe it or not.

Who said chase? That's why you have that signal on the roof. If you have that already in your time.

We already have it. Have to say it's going to be missed; used to make people feel safe.

Vigilante Liason? I can see why that would be necessary. [ Pauses. ] I'm the Sentry. It's nice to meet you, Lieutenant Gordon.

[He looks tired, but still presentable. Not on his list, are you?]

It's nice to meet you too. You're a vigilante yourself?

Well [ Beat. ] maybe not a vigilante, exactly. I used to work with a team called the Avengers.

I like how you started out with a snide remark about the uselessness of charity versus the necessity sorting paperwork! I think this is gonna work out great. You're not the Vigilante Liason we deserve- well, you know how it goes.

What up, Lieutenant. I'm Deadpool: hero.

It's hardly meant with any ill will. I made my choice when I decided to stick to the office, and frankly I've been to enough policeman balls to last a lifetime.

[He wouldn't have thought it by the name, so he appreciates the 'hero' on the end there. Also why does that sound so familiar--nevermind.]

A hero to be liaised with, I take it?

[Speaking with a different accent, voice low, and he's jamming the signal.]

I am called the Starling.

[Joker you are a horrible troll. And Jim doesn't know any better.]

Starling? And is a Starling a vigilante hero type?

I suppose so. I'm not an officer if that's what you're asking.

I would have hoped that if you were, you'd introduce yourself as Officer Starling, at the very least. Have you worked with the CPD before?
