[the camera feed cuts in on a room half in shadow, lit by a bare bulb hanging from the ceiling. On the wall behind Ghost are newspaper clippings, a lost dog poster, several missing kids posters, and numerous sticky notes on papers, penned with brief messages like "WHERE DID THEY COME FROM?" and "GLOBAL FINANCIAL INSTABILITY" and "1.2 MILLIGRAMS PER ( Read more... )

'...have thorns about them.'. [soft breathy whuff, he thought he'd finished that quote before. But rather than admit he's going a little more off the rails than usual he'll just attribute it to fatigue] You should be careful, Ruka. There is an experienced murderer loose, and I doubt the capacity of imPorts or local law enforcement to contain them.

Mm, I will. But what makes you think that this person can't be contained?

They entered and left like a ghost. No trace.

Not an easy feat, even by imPort standards.

... Huh. I don't really know much about this sort of thing, but there's usually some kind of evidence, right?

You are correct. The lack of any DNA - hair, bodily fluid, skin under the victim's fingernails etcetera - is highly unusual.

My theories turn towards magical cause, potentially, telepathy or hypnotism--something that would not require the murderer's immediate presence.

Hypnotism...?

[pause. oh such a pause. and then private.]

... I.

I could tell you. If he did it to himself. If he was forced like that.

What would you need? Access to the crime scene? [he is totally eager sounding.]

[pffffff ghost]

The thing that killed him, specifically.

[nothing morally questionable about showing an adolescent a gory murder scene right?! F-for the greater good!]

Oh. ...I do not have access to the murder weapon.

Oh. It only works if I have something he was touching, when he was...

[yeah that.]

Mr. Blake has self-inflicted damage from his claws, but I doubt that was sufficient to induce the bleedout from which he died. It is my estimation that the knife that punctured his heart and other vital organs was taken with the murderer.

Your ability, however, is likely to be of use in the future. Whoever the killer is, if they do it again, will likely make a mistake.

...unless it is the Porter herself committing these acts. [oh shi...]

[steadying breath.]

The claws would work.

I could bring them to you, possibly.

Okay. Though, I can't guarantee it'll help all that much.

Very little in life - or beyond - is guaranteed. I welcome and appreciate your assist.
