[The video shows a brown-haired man, early-thirties and with round-framed glasses. His style of suit, plaid slacks with a matching vest, rolled up sleeves on a yellow Oxford shirt, and a red bowtie, may have some familiarity to it. He's studying his hand with a look of almost excited curiosity. It's the hands that always take me by surprise. They've ( Read more... )

I apologize that I couldn't have greeted you more properly! Sounds as if she's been busy filling our ranks, then.

At this rate, the mansion may be crowded by the end of the week!

You had a good excuse for not saying hello.

But now that it doesn't apply, you should stop by the mansion soon.

I have certain people I'll need to see first, but you can expect me for a visit fairly soon!

Though the cab fare is something I'll have to get used to...

Good.

There are other ways to get around a city, Hank.

Well, my typical method isn't really available at the moment, as I'm sure you noticed. I suppose we could always have you fly me around by the arm as we did in the old days, but I don't imagine I'd be as good at landing like this!

You don't trust me to set you down gently?

That wasn't actually what I was thinking of, though I wouldn't mind giving you rides places until you get back to being able to move around more easily.

It isn't so much that I hold your ability to handle with care suspect, but I recall that on most opportunities I tended to hop down myself. Given how uneasy I'm feeling just keeping on the ground like a normal person already, I'm not sure how well I'd handle those old instincts! Not to mention that I'd hate to put you through all the trouble.

What did you have in mind, out of curiosity?

You're a friendly guy and there's a lot of people from home here. Someone you know is bound to have a car you can either borrow or get rides in for a lot less than cab fare for however long it takes you to get back to normal.

Alternatively, joint subway/bus passes are usually cheaper than a lot of cab rides, but public transit can be a little iffy at times.

I don't believe I know a single person who owns a car, actually. Far too much bother in this City.

Actually, I'm sure Tony has his fair share, but who would want to drive in Manhattan of all places? The subway would certainly be one to keep in mind, I think.

Looks like the fact that I haven't actually owned a car since... Oh, probably since I was in the Air Force is showing.

Westchester was always a far better environment for driving through, though most of the cars we had were either Charles' or Warren's. I learned with my father's pickup, though I always had trouble fitting in the cab.

Come to think of it, I don't believe I've ever actually owned a car!

I used to have this tiny, beat up, blue Volkswagen Rabbit when I was in college. It was a piece of crap, but it got me from campus to base and back, and had this scratch on the side that looked like a heart if you tilted your head just right.

I've always firmly believed that the greatest things to come out of Germany were Kurt Wagner and the Volkswagen.

Perhaps a consideration could be made for Kraftwerk, as well.
