[awww yeah thursday night bar outting. and she looks classy as hell with that martini in hand.]

Y'know, it's funny how long money can last when you set your mind to it, but I can't start relying on these boys to keep buying me drinks every night. [she laughs, and she gives the old man sitting next to her a wink as she raises her martini glass.] ( Read more... )

I'm still working on various backers for your fundraiser; Miss Maggotbone has her support in, and others are in varying states of set up.

I can get you the paperwork later, if you'd like to look it over.

I'd like that a lot, hon. I shouldn't have started thinking about it so late.

[a light sigh. no weight to it or anything, just an exhale.]

It's times like this I wish that bastard Larry were here. He wasn't much of anything in bed, but with paperwork and networking he was a godsend sometimes.

[Snape's brows lift, and he just has to remind himself that-- women? They're a mystery. They bring up the damndest things. So he ignores any talk of Larry's bedroom prowess and simply talks business because it's nice and safe.]

Another day. [When you're sober!] In the mean time, I should prove adequate in managing paperwork and networking, though I'm sure you could easily sway the most hardened of hearts on your own.

I've been meaning to meet up. Still haven't paid you back for that breakfast outing of ours.

[she chuckles. her drink is finished, and a new glass is immediately placed in front of her. she gives a slight nod to someone off-camera.]

Only the men. I soften 'em up until they're brittle and break, so I'm told. Women are a bit more fickle to win over. You sure you don't mind playing secretary for me while I find my footing, dear?

[He can't offer her kind words so-- simply doesn't. He doesn't have it in him to reassure her, especially while she's drunk. It's just so alien an idea, he cannot fathom what he could say.]

[He can't even lamely offer a candy and hope that Dumbledore's magic was somewhere in them.]

Not at all. I've got a great deal of free time between stirring potions and reading. It's more interesting then grading first year parchments, that's for certain. [Sadly, that's the truth.]

The fact that you have enough time to do all that just means you need to get out more, hon.

Get a little colour while the sun's still shining.

[clearly. she has no idea who she's talking to.......]

But I do appreciate you helping out an' reading over all that boring shit while I'm sitting over here getting tipsy. Part of me feels like I'm forcing you to do that.

[Snape snorts, and then shakes his head. She really doesn't. But it affords him some amusement, doesn't it?]

I don't drink, carouse, or otherwise entertain. I'm afraid that the "boring" suits me. I doubt I'll even see the inside of this event.

Not if I have any say in that. If this thing gets off the ground like I'm hoping it will, you'll at least have to see the outcome of what you've helped with.

Just for a little bit. Then you can go back to being boring.

If you insist. Just don't even begin of thinking of putting my on your auction block. I refuse to go that far.

[Snape has his limits. They are firm.]

[she throws her hands up in defeat, laughing.]

I know the definition of 'no', honey. So long as you agree to come for a little while, then I won't have to do anything that drastic.

[Mollified, Snape nods once.]

That's an acceptable compromise. [Besides, it's a good opportunity to network himself.]

An' this'll give you an excuse to expand your wardrobe.

I know it's different for fellas, but the best part of these things is finding new clothes to wear for it.

Why would I need to expand my wardrobe. The clothing I have is serviceable.

It's too dark and drab, Severus. Folks with pale skin shouldn't wear clothes that make it even more obvious.

Makes you look sallow and unhealthy.

[........yup. she went there. BUT SHE'S BEING DRUNKENLY BLUNT. NOT. mean about it.]

[Snape's eyes flash, with sudden irritation. It's much easier to be irritated with her when she's not near by. He doesn't ponder on that, however, when he's too busy giving her glower.]

Black suits me. It is simple and does not require flash or ornamentation. It simply is.

[Not that he doesn't have some other things that Gemme provided him, but -- they're still all neutral, dark colors.]

Black always looks better with a little something extra. Even The Silhouette knew that.

[it's like she expects him to know who that is. and she's too tipsy to let the glare bother her.]

I'm not saying you shouldn't dress the way you do, but sometimes it's nice strayin' away from your comfort zone and trying something more stylish an' new, y'know?
