Many see betrayal as a sign of weakness----a sign of cowardice, even. Especially when one has made an oath to serve another, or even to serve an entire nation.
[Beatrice is sounding especially contemplative today; there's a pause as she smokes on her pipe.]
...But it has its altruistic purposes as well. What if one decided to cast aside an ignoble cause?
[Beat. Beatrice exhales.]
Would it still be considered 'betrayal,' or something else entirely?
