[The video feed clicks on, and Mikoto is sitting in the middle of the floor of her bedroom, suddenly pulling off a pair of earbuds connected to what appears to be an iPod-like device.]

Question.

[She huffs a bit, and crosses her arms while remaining seated.]

Does anyone around here know a better way to, you know, meditate? These stupid recordings are ( Read more... )

[ Totally sincerely: ] I've heard taking dips beneath waterfalls is beneficial in such a situation!

[A pause. Mikoto has to keep herself from groaning----not this one again, although he does sound fairly supportive this time around, and not...condescending, so she'll bite.]

...Like in the old samurai or martial arts movies...I can see why being in water would be...calming, I guess.

But in this City, I think it'd be kinda hard to find a setting like that, and to do that in a park just seems pretty awkward.

[ Oh, he'll get to condescending soon enough. ]

What is a little discomfort, if not the means to an end?

[How comforting. Mikoto simply lets out an exasperated sigh.]

...I don't want people to think I'm weird. They already think I'm different enough as it is.

[ Cue derisive snort. ]

Normalcy is boring.

What you're suggesting isn't compromise.

I suppose it's rather difficult to argue that logic without calling someone a coward in the process.

[ A beat. ]

--Mm. Have you tried meditative chant, rather than solitude?

[Mikoto lets out an irritated noise at his 'coward' comment, but she'll let it go. The point of this excercise is self-control, after all.]

...Chanting? Well...I've seen monks do it at some of the local temples, but...no, I've never tried it for myself.

I suppose stubborn adherence is another method of going about things.
