voice; oh god somebody hire Ryan

So. Things are not nearly as weird here as they were back home, at the moment anyway. Let me ask a frank question: street level vigilantism. Is one more guy on the beat really necessary? Are we already stepping on each other's toes? Or is it still a good idea to put in a few hours of patrol or whatever you call it? It's not really my style... well ( Read more... )

I think it's the same as back home. You either do or you don't and you do it because you want to, not because you need to. Stick with what you're most comfortable with and... uh, since you're obviously looking for work, I really don't think anyone would blame you if you ditched the costume for a while.

[A PAUSE. Intrigue.] So, why you need something that can fly?

Well, it's not that I don't want to, but Ivy Town was a college town, not a big city. The cops were pretty okay without me hanging out, I just had to take care of the wacky stuff. So this is new!

I guess I don't need it, but I got used to having my bangstick around, and when you're tiny you really need a versatile form of transportation to get around. And until the giant tense-mangling shouting alien heads from my dog's butt show up here, I can't put together another.

It was basically just my way of saying "if you have other stuff to deal with, it's okay." The police sort of... tolerate it? It's not exactly their cuppa, though.

I'm sure you could ask Ted to help you make a new one? I'm afraid I don't know much about it, so I couldn't just say it backwards...

Well... it's true that there are a lot of vigilantes in the City, but there aren't that many anywhere outside of it. If you ever decide it's something you want to do, you could always help out in other cities instead.

True! May have to wait until I get a hold of that flying something.

Gosh, I wish I could help, but all that high tech stuff goes right over my head.

Frankly, those are my same views on the subject of vigilantism. I feel my talents could be better applied in other areas.

Yeah. Really, I'm a scientist first. I just also know how to punch a guy. But there seem to be so many of "us" around...

I may even be more physically suited for the work than most, but my priorities draw me toward science and medicine before anything else. Any number of heroes can punch out the villain, but who will mind the relief afterward?

To be fair, I'm not well enough established to be helping in that manner either, so, whatever I can do, I'll do.

Street level vigilantism. There's a waiting list.

Gosh, it's a good thing I started asking early!

Convert your MAC housing into lab space. Problem solved.

That sounds like a lot of money and trouble for a place that's probably not properly ventilated or stuff like that.

Funding a lab is always expensive.

What kind of things are you planning on doing with one?

Yeah, so I'm hoping there's already existent space for rent. I know there are other scientists and technicians on this thing. Like you, for instance?

Oh, just the basics.
