There's lots of art stores around that you can get paint from. You don't have to make it yourself unless you really want to.

It depends on the color and the materials, really. Some are easy and some take forever.

Well, it kinda is. Like a... Superphone or something. There's also just regular land-line phones and mobile phones.

If you make a message viewable to just one person, though, and then talk to 'em like that, it's basically the same thing as a phone.
