...Huh.

[Juudai is shifting his bag over his shoulder, out on the street in front of the Porter building, fooling around with the communicator and turning thoughts over in his head.]

You'd think this wouldn't be a new thing anymore, but somehow, stuff like this just doesn't stop being so damn weird. At least it keeps things fresh, I guess ( Read more... )

Yeah, this is America, but I don't think your cat would have come with you, unless you were carrying him yourself.

So, welcome to the City, Juudai. [no suffixes not ever.]

Well, he was in my bag up until now, since that's where he usually likes to settle, so maybe he just jumped out. Hopefully he didn't get himself lost in some parallel world somewhere. I only noticed because I hadn't heard any complaining from sensei in a while...

Ahh, anyway... thanks, I think. Guess we'll see what happens from here.

Hopefully he's where you left him, then. When you leave, you'll be returned to right where and when you were, so you don't have to worry about being late to anything. Well, later, anyway.

Ahh... that's kind of a relief. I guess there's always the possibility he isn't, but I guess we'll see.

That also means nothing will happen while I'm not there, too, right? I don't wanna wind up responsible for something ending the world while I'm here doing who-knows-what.

I guess that depends what you count as "everything". I got the whole spiel about the Porter and the alternate worlds -- it's not really anything new, though. So I think I just need to settle in at this point.

Right. Time here and time there don't pass at the same rate.

[A beat. She was going to ask something actually useful, but...] Do you usually worry about the world ending?

...Well, it depends when you ask. It's come pretty close enough times for me to always be listening for the first signs of trouble, if they ever come up again.

There haven't been any incidents for a while, luckily. Not until the whole time traveling thing that came up recently, anyway...
