He's a Rebel (and he'll never ever be any good!) - Video

[The feed comes on to show everyone's favorite no-longer-so-young wizard, lounging comfortably in the booth of a fifties-style burger joint. He's bathed, well-rested and smiling, and far too good-looking for anyone's good.]

Hello, everyone! Sirius Black here, not new but definitely improved, as you can see. [His smile does not actually go 'ding', ( Read more... )

[Luck was clearly planning on saying something, but appears to change his mind immediately after hitting the button, and just kind of laughs and shakes his head instead.]

Yeees? Sir, you are failing at a simple task.

[Not that Sirius particularly minds. Amusing people is a hobby.]

[Wry.] It wouldn't be the first time.

Never mind. [He waves a hand dismissively.] I was just... reminded again how different this place is from what I'm used to.

Ha ha ha, I'm hardly representative of this place!

I'll have to take you at your word on that.

How new are you, then?

About three weeks, give or take.

Mmm, long enough for a routine, and long enough for sincere homesickness. You seem to have your chin up, though, so well done!

Don't suppose you arrived with a name as well as some fancy powers?

[He shrugs.] Three weeks is also long enough to see that complaining isn't going to help the situation. I have time.

My name is Luck Gandor.

[Fun fact, since anime art is ambiguous: Luck is maybe nineteen. He's more self-possessed than your average nineteen-year-old so he might read as more like twenty or twenty-one, but that's about it.]

Hmm, bet you had fun in school with that one, but it's not bad.

Do you have people here?

No worse than 'Sirius,' probably.

[The question gets a moment of thoughtful consideration before he shakes his head.]

None of my people are here. I've had a few interesting conversations, but that's the most I can claim at the moment.

Seriously. Though I guarantee at my alma mater, you'd have been Plucky Duck in three seconds flat. Probably graduated to Plucky with time and acts of suitably impressive bravery.

Ah, sympathies, then. Or not, as the porter can have a twisted sense of humor. Still, in time you'll have friends show up, like as not. What trouble have you got up to in your three weeks?

I'm sure. Although having a set of frightening older brothers helps a little with that sort of thing, in my experience. [Another wry face.]

I've mostly tried to stay out of trouble, so far. It's better to know the local rules before you start trying to break them, don't you think?

I'm the oldest myself, and of no use to my family whatsoever, so you've got me there.

It's been my experience that the rules will make themselves known to me if they deem it necessary, so I don't let it bother me overmuch. Besides, around here the only way to really stay out of trouble is to sit in a room with your eyes closed and your fingers in your ears and talk to no one, and even then you're not safe.

I'm not sure if that calls for condolences or congratulations.

In any case, although there is a difference between making trouble and having trouble find you, it's a close enough distinction that I'll concede your point.

Eh, they wanted a scion who'd carry on the old traditions of being heartless, elitist berks, and I chose not to oblige. Haven't regretted it for a second.

All points aside, if you'd rather not talk about what you've been doing with yourself since you got here, that's fine with me. I was just trying to be friendly.
