It's been suggested that I widen my perspective on certain things, so I would appreciate hearing from those of you with a... less than scientific outlook on how the world works.

I suppose the most optimal responses would be concerning worlds where science and - other things are combined without trouble, as unlikely as that may be. Essentially, I'd like to know if there's a chance that there is something - as yet unquantifiable that could interfere with any invention I might make with a view to returning us home, in your opinions.
[As yet unquantifiable because damn if he isn't going to break the universe down into readily quantifiable concepts some day, just you watch. Science has most of that covered already, even :|]
[ooc: okay so I had to sleep on the couch last night due to a Mattress Related Incident, ie. I killed a poor innocent hot water bottle and soaked my mattress with its boiling life juices, so I may collapse into sleep but I wanted to get this up while I could.
