[Video] Mad Scientist looking for same.

Sep 21, 2010 12:53

[Cue Drakken sitting at a desk, hands folded.]

Hello, friends.

[Ok, wide description there. But never start a message with 'hey jerkwads' - he's learned that never quite works out]

Now a man of my considerable genius has a lot of time to think. Part of the job, you know how it is. [Waves dismissively] But sometimes, like minds are something to ( Read more... )

People still use the word rad?

Look, normally my hair curls on end when I hear someone discuss mad science but... I guess I'm what you could call an engineer and I really need to build something that I can't get all the right parts for.

I dunno, maybe? If not, whatever, I'm bringing it back.

[And you've piqued his interest]

And what would that be?

As you probably heard there's some sort of mind control crisis going on.

I'm trying to make something to help put a stop to it.

I heard something or other. I dunno, I was making some, uh..."mining equipment" and kinda didn't watch tv or anything. [By 'mining equipment', he means a robot with drill arms. That could, theoretically, be used for mining and not, say, tunnelling into a vault]

And I used to dabble in mind control. Not that I have anything like that now, you understand. [Shego would deep fry him for it.]

Countering it...I dunno, what kind are we talking about? Broadcast control, brainwashing, or some sort of device?

I... *think* they're using brainwashing but I don't any concrete evidence for how they're doing it.

So I'm sort of working on an all-in-one tool. A sort of mental swiss army knife.

[He runs this over in his mind for a moment, free hand idly doing some sketches.]

Right, well, problem is portability. I mean, sure, the components might be small, but it needs insulation against shocks - electrical and physical - plus a decent power source. Oh, probably an anti-DEMP field just be really safe.

[The sound you are hearing is an eraser tapping on a pencil pad]

Well, I got the tech to blast out some actual physical devices, but the module itself...I dunno, airborne? For portability.

[Unseen, he scratches out the treaded design he had and starts doodling one based with a helicopter blade above a rounded housing]

Well the other problem I was running into to a power source. I was thinking of a thorium based battery maybe but... any slightly radioactive element can be a little tricky to get a hold of. Here's what I have worked out.

[Picture any ridiculous gigantic lase bazooka you've seen on the cover of Cable cira 1994.]

I call it a Magnetic Resonance Discharge Electroencephalographic Cannon. It's a gun that shoots brainwaves.

[You know what that looks like to Drakken? Christmas coming early.]

Shoots brainwaves...huh, there's something I never considered. Well, mainly as I could never sort out how to keep the waves from being damaging.

[There is the sound of a printer. He's looking very carefully at this.]

I can help you out with power sources. Smaller the better. Got one you can switch in and out like ammunition. Plasma battery, one of my favourites. Trick is dealing with multiple methods at once.

I might have a few ideas on that... [He says the last absently]

Yeah that's sort of the downside. I'm trying to figure out a way to ensure it's completely safe and well... it's going to hurt regardless.

As for multiple methods, I was thinking of a setting capable of killing nanobots and maybe something that could shake people out of hypnotic trances just to be safe.

I sent the same file off to the patent office. Do you have any idea as to how long they get back to people on these sorta things?

[He scratches his head]

No, no, I think I could solve that. You'll end up with a more considerable unit, but we can fix the mobility issue pretty easily.

[He's thinking of a rotating design, much like an old tv camera lens. Multiple methods in one unit]

I dunno, never bothered with the idiots much. I mean I have to now because of the 'corporate' thing, but I still hate the guys.
