Alright... I think I've been putting this off because I hate feeling drafted. But obviously this City really does need help, and I've been trying to do what I can, but I can't do much on my own, I realize that ( Read more... )

Jaime, I can't stop you from joining. In fact, I would love it if you did. You would be an excellent addition. Let me talk to my boss and see what he can do. For starters, I suggest talking to Commissioner Maza. She's an excellent person to talk to. She'll get your foot in the door.

Tell her I sent you and she'll take care of the rest. She's tough but I think she's much better to talk to than anyone.

All you have to do is use the private setting like I showed you before and from there, the two of you can set up a meeting.

Thanks, I've heard about her.

Trying to feel out if there are other options too.

No problem.

[He puts his brace back on after he completes his exercises.]

Actually, that's a very smart move.

The porter grants people abilities. Do you have any idea what yours might be?

More or less, I seem to have some version of the generic strength and speed package.

Kinda like that awful show on tv, whatsitcalled, Isis? Oh wait, that's probably been long forgotten. Without the flying and the ancient gods though, anyway. [smile]

I have never watched all that much television, regardless.

Perhaps you could contact the Avengers, particularly those led by Henry Pym. I don't suppose vigilantism is strictly legal in this place either, however the Avengers generally try to work with law enforcement whenever possible.

Henry Pym... that's Hank, right? The guy who's making the robot?

I'm not sure how I feel about vigilantism but it sounds like these teams are pretty organized. Thanks for the tip, Pietro.

Heya! [A little wave.] Teaching is just as important of a job, you know. The right teacher can stop someone from becoming a villain and turn someone into a hero, but... hm. I'd imagine contacting the police station directly about this would be your best bet?

I totally agree with you, Zatanna, which is why I want to be clear that I have to have time to do that too.

But there are people out there getting hurt right now, and I'd like to be able to help where I can on that end too.

Perhaps you could get a job at a police academy, if they have one? Kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

I understand.

Huh, that's something I hadn't thought of. I'll have to think about that. I think I'd like to keep the two jobs separate though. Still, it's a good idea.

I find teaching to be much more rewarding than police work ever could be. At least as a teacher you have some hope of making a difference.

Sarcasm looks very poor on you. I'm sure our worlds are quite different Inspector. Perhaps in yours police officers don't simply make things worse.

Hey, now, both of you. Both things are important, alright?

As I said, Ms. Frost, the teaching work is very important to me. And I'm extremely grateful for the opportunities given me at the Institute.

At the same time, where I agree with the ah... inspector is there are criminals out there right now... (not to mention dead fish and death unicorns) and if there's a way I can help improve the immediate situation as well as the future one, that's not a bad thing, right?

I'd rather talk about the details in person, but, as I said... I do have police and investigation training, and about 3 years field experience. I was a pro athlete before that, and what I was doing right before I came here was being a teacher at an air force school. [dry humored smile] And I figure if I can make a 12 year old military brat sit down, stay quiet, and listen for 8 hours a day, there's not much I can't do, huh?

[can't help but laugh a little] If I were, I wouldn't be about to admit it.

But NO. [looks him in the eye as best she can via comm] I have no interest in killing, stealing, taking over the world, or other criminal activity.
