Is it on now? Goddamn thing doesn't--[static, fumbling sounds of metal on wood]--here we go.

[And now video is on. LOOK AT THIS GUY, C&C, IN HIS OBVIOUSLY CEREMONIAL MILITARY UNIFORM. He is sitting at a nice, clean desk, glowering at the camera like someone who is glowering pretty hard. Those of you who watch the news or like, don't live under a rock, will recognize him as the man who was recently appointed the first General of the Army since Omar Bradley, which is helpful, since he totally isn't going to introduce himself--he just starts talking again, in a clipped, tense voice.]

Good evening... [pause] heroes. You're probably wondering why I'm here at all, due to the covert nature of this network, but times being what they are, I've been granted access. Your leader wasn't too happy about it, but, well.

[A smug, knowing look.]

We convinced her to let me in. Tonight, I have to speak to you all about something more important than her compromised security. You know what I'm referring to: the evacuation of the HIVE. As you've doubtless heard, President Abraham has extended a request for your assistance in the strike against Los Angeles. Let me put this in the plainest English I can: there are innocent civilians who need to be evacuated from the city, and they need to be removed from the area faster than we can manage alone. That's where you come in. You and your... unique abilities can help us successfully make sure that whoever needs to get out, gets out. If this goes as calculated, millions of lives can be saved.

We need as many volunteers as are willing to report to the recruitment center at Fort Claremont for transportation and further debriefing. If you need further information, it will be provided to you there, but don't make the mistake of going if you aren't willing to commit. This is not something to take casually or make jokes about--this is war.

And, despite what some people seem to think, war is no game.

[He kind of raps his knuckles against the surface of the desk to punctuate this, but it comes out as more of a tablepunch. There's a tinge of a Boston accent coming out in his voice now. CLASSY.]

If you think the death toll in the City--thanks to your kind, I'll add--is horrific, you can't even begin to imagine the casualties that could occur if this fails. Women and children will be slaughtered in the streets if you don't do this. And I don't know how much you people really care about innocent people getting killed, but I know the things you say in your press releases. This is your best chance to prove to the public that you're not the lawless monsters everyone thinks you are. You call yourselves heroes? You'd damn well better take it.

[And, with that, the feed clicks off.]

((General Liefeld will be fielding questions and generally getting really red in the face at people for the foreseeable future, so feel free to respond ridiculously! The mod writing him, however, will be passing the fuck out right now, so you should also be aware that responses will be coming in the morning.))
