No, not exactly. In one case people were too preoccupied with other things to pay much attention to the calendar; in the other, I believe they just weren't very used to celebrating.

Those have become familiar. I... yes, I do, if Eid al-Adha counts, but I have not celebrated that with others since coming to the USA. My team celebrates the holidays in general, however, which is always... eventful.

I am. The commercial aspect can be... hard to escape, still, but it seems less daunting now than it did a few years ago.
