Who likes steampunk?

C'mon, gotta be a couple of you in the closet. Steampunk is fucking amazing, and everybody should like it. Period.

LOOK AT THIS. You cannot look at that and tell me that that is not the coolest effin' case mod in the history of mankind. Or one of the coolest, anyway. I mean, this one's pretty rad, too

I'm not sure what steampunk is, but those things look an awful lot like the technology from my own world. What are they designed to do?

It's a computer. Probably a couple of Linux boxes, if I know my fellow nerds. And they've redesigned the outsides to be all steampunky.

I've been here long enough to know what a computer is, but I don't know what the Hell kind of box you're talking about. And just the outsides are like that?

...Huh. Actual steampunk computer chips. KEEN. I should try that. Hehehe. Chips disguised as transistors. I like a challenge.

Just the outsides, yeah, but I'm gonna try to do inside AND outside.

I don't know what you're on about, but you can walk in off the street and get somethin' like that at any number of places. There's nuthin' "punk" about it.

That second one is really nice. Great detail with the brass. But the works don't do anything, right? It's just decoration?

SOMETIMES. I know some dudes who make the cooling fans by hand. It's not just aesthetically pleasing, but functional as well!

That's cool - it's not that I think style is pointless, it's just way more rewarding when it has a function too - especially hand-built stuff.

And I think this definitely qualifies as punk. We don't really have a 'steampunk' aesthetic back home but this has that subvert-the-underlying-tech feel to it.
