Part #1: Give us some headcanon facts!
- Steve sometimes forgets he's no longer that small man he use to be and occasionally smacks his head against door frames.
- Peggy Carter wasn't the love of his life but at the time he really wanted and intended her to be.
- He's not quite got to a place where he can forgive himself for Bucky.
- The first time he killed someone he spent half an hour puking behind an allied tank after the battle was over and far away from anyone who could see him.
- Steve was and still is an artist. He didn't have a lot of time for it during the war but he still managed to sketch things in his journal when he had a spare moment and even painted a pinup on the side of a recommissioned HYDRA tank for Jacques and Gabe and some war posters for Uncle Sam. Now, in the 21st century, he has more time and uses it to sketch the people he's lost, the people he has now, and portraits of them all meeting and mingling as if they were all one big dysfunctional but happy family.
- He doesn't let anyone see his drawings if he can help it and when he can't he shows them only the unfinished sketches and nothing else.
- He misses the imperfections that were buffed away but remembers each dent and ding his shield ever got.
- Steve is just as fallible as the next guy but he holds himself to a higher standard and tries his best to always do the right thing or be right because if Captain America is wrong then he's letting down not only himself but everyone who sacrificed and fought to make him the man he is today.
- The Avengers Initiative is probably the only thing Steve has that keeps him from going completely crazy because seventy years is a lot of time to miss but fighting stops him from thinking about that too hard.
- These strange, wonderful, deadly people are his team and sometimes that's all that matters.
