Before his enlightening day in the rec room, Lex had often gone into the rec room for both books and to occasionally use the pool table. While he was in there, the jukebox had been fond of playing a song for him. It was a rather grand song, with a marvelous male singer singing about how one's nation wasn't defined by borders but how it lives in the hearts of those who love it. While knowing that the island didn't do anything without a purpose, Lex hadn't been able to figure out why the jukebox had chosen to play that particular song for him.
Now a days, his time in the rec room was much more sporadic. He feared what other news from home he might happen upon. He knew better then to think that the laptop and Helen was as worse as it could get.
But today he made an exception. Lex had had the urge to play the piano for a few days now. At home, he'd often played just to calm his nerves, usually after a visit from his father. It also went a long way with impressing people, particularly women. Finally, he gave into his urge and sat down at the rec room's piano, fingers ghosting over the keys for a few moments as he tried to think of what to play. Bach, Mozart, Handel...
Instead of a classic, his fingers fell into playing the song from the jukebox. It took him a few bars to be comfortable that he had the right range and key, but soon he wasn't even thinking as he played, just relaxing with the music.
