I have no idea why one of my interests was
advertising. Seriously, I don't. Not in the business, not the education nor the interest of advertising as people might suspect when they come into these pages. Honestly now: I meant
marketing. There is an interest in that area of the world. By telling you that I am telling you a truth. Just look back a few years I made this kind of project in school about was (more likely)
marketing research rather than marketing as a whole. The books where thick, quite goodlooking but completely brainmelting. I never read them entirely.
But believe me, what I mean by having an interest in marketing is by how it works.
No Logo is a good starter for this. I am interested in the effect, the social cost and what else that comes with advertising. How do they do it? How do they come up with everything in the world of advertising? It is more popular today to either loathe it and try to keep away thinking in adverts, or just get into the world of adverts and sell-sell-sell-sellyswellly! Don't you think?
By learning the tricks of marketing there is a possibility to learn it's weakness, to learn where it fails and come up with some really pillarsmashing criticism rather than just say that it is no good for you. It doesn't bite. Come with a word and no ones really listen. Come with a lecture and there is a chance that some might get it. A good example of this is a punk friends father who said that, on reading most religious books (though not being religious), it is important to "have studied the enemy at first". Quite smart a deal.
Despite an interest in non-capitalistic ideas too I'd love to
learn more about economics, and to some extent
share finance. What have they done to mother earth, to us, to everybody else and what will they do to us if it keeps on going? That is what I wonder. I am just curious that is all. And I like to choose subjects far from other people's choices. Last time it was The Tracht, now it is just a desire to get back to study something I just got a shallow idea of. In fact, in this creative writing course I took we got to try make selling catchphrases to certain photos. I made ten, the others made one to each picture. Perhaps, with the right kind of education, I would've been in marketing today, have a different haircut, different taste in music, art and possibly (*gaspshorrors!!!*) I would be writing one of these kinds of
"make money on your blogging"-books. No actual interests to earn money on a big scale here. But it is sure interesting to know how others do it.
