I will tell you the most told, at the movies

I thought we should talk about movies here at, euh, uuuuh.... Excuse me a moment.... Ah, Three of two! Those who have seen my own musicvideo at youtube.com know that it hasn't any certain, what should I call it, inspiration or blueprint of sort. So, movies are a medium I have worked more with lately than I've had the time to investigate.

Therefor I will spend this next week to put up links to movies and , may it be flash or may it be billionbudget movies, talk about them what they mean to me and how they changed my life in one way or another. If I turned left or turned right at the crossing.... Let us go on.

First out is the cute, but mysterious shortanimation called Skazka skazok, as I got the words from Allmovie.com ("Very difficult to understand, the animated short film Tale of Tales does evoke a sense of melancholy and nostalgia even if you're not sure quite why. The little wolf is very cute, especially in the carefully observed moments when he tries to eat a hot baked potato. It's a good thing this is a short film, because the lack of dialogue and nonlinear structure makes it move extremely slow. For viewers with no working knowledge of the history of postwar Russia, the social commentary is likely to be lost. But the emotional impact is still pretty strong in the more general themes of lost childhood, motherhood, and visual memories. For patient audiences who appreciate experimental animation, Tale of Tales offers a sad and poignant experience.") I can't say anything that I agree on it being very hard for me to understand. But still I loved watching it.

The film is based around a lullaby (which can be read about at wikipedia.org) involving a grey wolf. Quite a menacing lullaby and reminds me of these lullabies about trolls I heard when I was a little. However, in the movie the little wolf fella is a cute little wolf, not one you expect to "Tug you off into the wood", no, this one is even baking potatoes in the fire! What could this little wolf really do?

So, does the wolf really come to the bed? Well, we will come to that part, but first we should note that there are a few things involved in this movie possibly not being related to that lullaby. Of the stories we see this intercut from the Wolf, to a family, to a couple of dancing people and two kids eating apples with a couple of birds.
When it comes to the dancing couple's it is evident that it is all about war. At first we see them dancing together, but suddenly the males dissappear and the women are standing still and unmovable while the men, now soldiers, go to war. Some of them return, some of them don't... Which is sad. You hear a tango play and also the sound of bombs falling onto the ground. Very touching...
The kid's eating apples have  a father and a mother, at least the kid standing on the ground. This father is an alcoholic who, suddenly, throws away the bottle and put on a napoleon-esque hat and goes away. The mother pull the child from the birds so quickly that the kid accidently drops the apple. The kid really, really wants the apple but he have to follow his father, even though that father is drunk. Soon this kid also have a similar napoleon-esque hat like his father and they walk off screen.

In the end, it happens: The wolf comes and grabs the child. But what does that mean? Seriously, what does this whole movie mean?

"Several recurring characters and their interactions make up a large part of the film, such as the poet, the little girl and the bull, the little boy and the crows, the dancers and the soldiers, and especially the little grey wolf (Russian: се́ренький волчо́к, syeryenkiy volchok). Another symbol connecting nearly all of these different themes are green apples (which may symbolize life, hope, or potential)." - Wikipedia.org

I am sure that there are several meanings in this beautiful movie. The drunk father showcast how one can't follow the wrong leader because it might take away the most preacious thing in your life. In this case it might be your joy.

The dancing couple's are as they are. The womens life's stop as they can't live it without their lovers and are now left to stand still while other dance on, affected by the war (the uniforms are on when the soldiers get back).

Meanwhile, the wolf has taken the child, but I dunno really what that means. The original title was: The little grey wolf will come. Perhaps it is about warnings, sooner or later they come true and you should listen to the warnings you get. Otherwise the wolf will come and take away something you have close to your heart.

That was that, the rest of you are free to put up thoughts on this film as they come. But I recommend watching it!
