Being the boss of thou?

Feb 29, 2008 22:13

My boss is resigning from his post as a boss-of-the-mall that I am working at. I can somewhat understand him. Being a boss on top of a giant organisation or franchise brand offspring store seems quite hellish. Even if there is a poster announcing an education for becoming 'the boss' put up on one of the many whiteboards we got in the dining area, it is not attractive to me no matter how many smiling and happy looking people are being shown with the text.

A problem might be that they are all too young. Somewhere between 19 and 24. Too much of the model kinds because when I look at my boss I don't see the kind of smiling and relaxed type of person - Not to say that my current boss is one of the best bosses I've ever had - but rather he looks a bit stressed, somnipathic-ridden and a bit pushed down by being the atlas of this hard business. Just to think that the loss of more than 100 SEK when a customer (who happend to be in my line) runs of with stuff worth 206 SEK is a burden for this guy made me think about being the boss. Never ever was the answer.

Who wants to be whispered about because of earning money "doing nothing"? Who wants to have the responsibility over something involving so many people? Who wants to fire someone because they are not doing a good job? Who wants to.... Well, do this kind of thing?

A box of moghrabiah -(also called big couscous, or maybe it is israelian cousous?)- wouldn't make the trick. Just look at the "Nyhet"(New) tag at the package! And the amount of time boiling these tasty pricks! 20 minutes!? You got to be kidding me! It is a great and interesting new product however and makes me happy because I mostly eat Quinoa with my beans, quorn or lentils. Variation is a need. But what can I do with these moghrabiahs? Since I thought that it would be time to acquire some daikon (which seems to be only available in my mall) I might blend the two. Make a happy marriage. Badda-bing!

Nevertheless, I hope that those who play in an orchestra eat all their moghrabiah they need. Being in an orchestra, I realised earlier today, is so far from being in a modern music band. There is no audiotive beat within the orchestra. It is rather visual with the conductor "showing the beat" to people who needs to both look and hear what is going on. That means being in an orchestra must be more demanding than being in a garageband, for sure. I kind of already knew that but I never thought of it like this. Hah.

But there we are again. The conductor is the boss of an orchestra. Can you compare it to a "boss of a mall"? I do wonder whenever a conductor would say that "these notes are uneconomic, we must remove them and the cellos. By the way, the violins have to work harder because I consider that I already pay you waaay to much".

To me, however, it is nice to be the underdog more than often. Be with the crowd. I somewhat work the best that way. Something the politicians would need more these days is to work with real jobs ("knegaryrken") for some time before they get into politics. Otherwise they're just some spoiled brat with a worthless education - Because education and real job are complementary. - that will only make you decide things that are, perhaps, far from what people would consider good. These there are little to none known politicians who have had work before they began with politics. I do really wonder what would happen if every politician would be unemployed, if the job as a politician would become unneccessary? Some politicians don't ever get a real job after quitting either. That is why it is, at the moment, such a great thing not to be the boss at the very first day in the world of the working.
