Music... is a beautiful thing. Last year, on Saturday, November 22nd, my life changed. I went to a concert... but not just any concert. It was a dream-team concert; Thrice, Thursday, and Coheed and Cambria. Coheed played, they were cool, and the crowd was into it. Thrice came on, and the only song i knew that they played was deadbolt. Then, thursday came on... I didn't know many of their songs either, but i watched in awe as Geoff screamed into the crowd, conveying his emotion, and reaching out to every person in that ballroom. That night, i realized that "there's a difference between slight of hand, and giving everything you have" and that "empty words are not enough." Want to guess where this is going?
Ever since January, when i really got into thrice, i've really changed. No i haven't dwelled on girls more, and how life sucks. No i haven't changed my outfits to look darker and sadder. No i haven't craved more attention. However, there are countless aspects of life that Dustin's poetry have helped me figure out and prioritize. I won't go into detail, because my personal life does not belong in a journal. That part can go in my pink and sparkled diary. But to skim the surface, taking an interest in poetry and vocabulary, being more respectful and diverse, becoming a better writer, and above all, i've learned that there are other people out there who i can connect with through music. No i'm not talking about a cry buddy, or someone who i can talk about cutting. I'm talking about educated people whom i've discussed the deepest corners of life with. Before thrice, i thought i was an atheist, i thought i knew what deep music was, and i thought i knew a lot about politics. Since then, i've grown up a lot, and stopped with those immature notions. So yeah, thanks thrice, thanks thrice boardies, and thanks anyone whose opened my mind the last year.
But how can i give back? I can make a video of the artist in the ambulance...
which is on its second verison right now.
Check it out. lovekyle ;)
