And I'm addicted to Iron Man fanfiction.

Seriously. I finally got around to watching the movie last weekend, even though we've had it home from Netflix since it came out. It was really good, I can see why it did so well for so long. Robert Downey Jr. makes the movie, both with his acting chops and other attributes.

After watching the movie, I reread starhawk2005's excellent fic, which I now appreciated a great deal more because I actually knew who the characters and events were. On a lark, I decided to visit fanfiction.net and see what else was out there.

I was blown away by the quality of fic that Iron Man fans seem to produce. Even the not-so-great fics are still pretty decent, in terms of concept or characterization or some aspect of the storytelling. I actually cried reading one story, I was so moved by what I read. Maybe it's the fact that the comic is a little more mature, and therefore attracts a more mature audience. I don't know exactly, but the overall quality of the work I've read is better than just about any fandom I've been in, and some pretty intelligent writers fic for West Wing and House.

The downside to all this is that I've been up late every night this week, reading fic. This wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to get up at 5:45 to leave for work in the morning, and my job wasn't an hour away, but I do and it is and that's a bad combination with a classroom full of kids.

I seriously need to get this out of my system. Do they make 12 step programs for fan fiction addiction?
