Wow, it's Day 63 already. Nine weeks of lockdown. When it started
I held onto a sliver of optimism that it might only be 3 weeks.
I continue to be amazed at how readily I've adapted to the situation. I thought that long before now I'd go stir crazy eating at home. Instead I've only bought carry-out food from restaurants a mere 5 times in the last 9 weeks, the most recent being
that totally-not-worth-it burrito on Friday.
While some of my neighbors are ordering DoorDash, GrubHub, etc. practically every day of the week- which I know because I see/hear their drivers often, and they attempt to mis-deliver to my door about twice a week- Hawk and I took turns on grocery shopping runs this weekend. Our pantry and freezer are stocked with enough food for several weeks. Why do we stock for weeks? Well, consider
the 4 reasons I offered 10 weeks ago, and note how 3½ of them have occurred already....
The "new normal" of the lockdown is still is the norm here. That's starting to become... a bit ab-normal... as lockdowns are beginning to lift across much of the country. In other states, people are flocking back to restaurants, stores, beaches, parks, churches, gyms, hair salons, and so on. I'm glad that's not the new-new normal as premature gatherings in churches, gyms, and hair salons are already in the news for causing clusters of Covid-19 infections. As much as I'd like to get out & get back to (pre-Coronavirus) normal I'm not going to rush into a dangerous situation.
