Las Vegas - Tue, 18 Feb 2020, 10pm
Today was Day 1 of our annual SKO, or Sales Kickoff. These conference are always an endurance test of multiple days of all-day meetings followed by team dinners and often homework. Today was no exception. What's different from the norm, though, is that I'm on extra good behavior this time around.
Last night I went back to my room early, took a shower (to clean off the smoke in my hair from just eating dinner), did a bit of work, and then took it easy until finally turning in just before midnight. Midnight bedtime isn't "early" by any definition except here in Vegas, where going to bed before midnight and not drunk seems like good behavior. It definitely made it easier to get up at 6:15 this morning.
Tonight I might do even better. I got back to my room around 8:30pm- after more than 13 hours straight of SKO meetings- and worked until 9:15. I then put away my work computer and have been catching up on personal stuff. I have completely skipped the temptation to go down to the casino and see if any of my colleagues are hanging out there
playing "stupid-stitious" craps and blackjack. It helps that
I still hate Las Vegas.
I might have the lights out by 11 tonight. Wouldn't that be special, getting 7 hours of sleep tonight!
