Another Night In The Coffin

El Cajón, California - Sat, 19 Jan 2019, 10pm

We wrapped up our visit to Garnet Peak this afternoon, returning to our car at the trailhead by 3pm. We drove back to El Cajón, aka The Coffin, hungry for late lunch/early dinner. All I'd had to eat since breakfast was a protein bar. We did a bit of shopping for odds and ends first as we didn't want to eat too early; it'd leaving us wanting a late dinner at 10pm, we figured. We sat for dinner at 5 at a local Mexican chain restaurant and demolished a couple of fairly large plates.

Back at the hotel to relax for the rest of the evening we took a nice soak in the hot tub.

For a hotel in a town named The Coffin it's pretty nice. Especially because in this part of town nearly everything else looks low-rent. Lots of mobile home parks around here. I figure this used to be one of San Diego's far-flung, working class suburbs. Now it's gentrifying a bit. There are dense upscale townhouse developments wedged in between some of those mobile home parks.

On tap for tomorrow is hiking Cuyamaca Peak. At approximately 6,600' elevation it's even higher than Garnet Peak.

san diego, taking it easy, travels in suburbia, pool life
