Our nine-day vacation to the Pacific Northwest,
ruined halfway through by car trouble, arguably is not over yet. It could come back to life! And hopefully in a good way!
You see, even though we flew home Saturday night, our car is still in Seattle. I, or we, will have to fly back there to drive it home. That could be a business-like arrangement, a quick two-day trip that's all flying out & driving back. Or I/we could spread the trip out a little bit and make a few enjoyable stops along the way.
At the moment I've got a flight scheduled for midday Wednesday. I might push that back to Friday so I can join Hawk at an appointment with a new doctor on Thursday. Plans are TBD. As is the decision of whether I'll make the trip all business or stretch it to include some leisure.
Meanwhile I'm getting back to work on job searching. It basically stalled while I was traveling. I could've squeezed several hours at it during the trip but first I was too busy with driving & fun stuff and then, after the car troubles, I was too bothered. Anyway, I am back at it today.
The good news on the job front is that one company is ready to make me an offer. I got word of that on Wednesday, actually. It came right before the breakdown happened so it was hard to focus on or followup on. I played phone tag for 2½ days with the senior mangers back East trying to figure out mutually workable times to have a conversation. Our calls kept getting postponed because someone always had a fire to put out.
I'm trying to wrap up negotiations on terms of the offer today. If they can give me what I'm asking for (within reason) I'll accept. And then I'll go retrieve my car from 850 miles away as a last hurrah before rejoining the ranks of the employed.
