Blue Ridge Trip '24 #34
Home - Sun, 8 Sep 2024. 10pm
We are now home from our week+ long trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. We walked through our front door just after 9:30pm and have already unpacked our suitcases and are starting to wind down for the night.
Travel as a whole was uneventful today.
The drive to the airport went smoothly. Our flight CLT-STL was on time. Our connection STL-OAK was almost on time. I even learned my lesson from connecting in STL a week ago and avoided
the vending machine pizza (which is as stupid as it sounds). Instead I used my long connection time, nearly 2 hours, to get a plate of Buffalo wings, a basket of fries, and a beer at a sit-down bar. Then I slept most of the 4 hour 10 minute flight to Oakland.
Tomorrow's a work day for me, and it's a busy one. I'll begin the day by leaving on another flight! Fortunately I've done two things in planning these back-to-back trips. First, I planned it such that I don't have to wash laundry tonight. I still have to dump my suitcase and repack it with new clothes, but at least I won't be waiting on wash instead of getting to bed. Second, I opted for a later-morning flight tomorrow instead of a crack-of-dawn flight. Together these will give me a shot at a decent night's sleep tonight.
