WikipediaAffiliation: Breeder
Personality:
Despite her rather gloomy appearance, Sawako is a sweet girl. She is polite and modest, frequently putting herself down while praising others. Her motto is, “Do one good deed every day,” and she attempts to fulfill this by picking up trash in her spare time, watering the plants at school, and volunteering for other activities which none of her classmates want to do. She genuinely enjoys these activities, and is happy to think that she is helping others out by doing them. She is generally a very positive person, and tries to make the best of her initial lack of friends.
However, her resemblance to Sadako from The Ring led others to be frightened of her, and so she grew up without any close friends, doing her best to entertain herself and remain optimistic about her situation. This grew worse upon her entrance into high school, when rumors that she was actually cursed started to float around.
Then Kazehaya came into the picture. Kazehaya didn’t seem to be frightened of her, and spoke to her even when the rest of the class shunned her. Thanks to his interactions with her, other members of the class opened up to her, and began to see her less as someone to be frightened of and more as a source of good luck. Sawako, in turn, began to put more effort into clearing up misunderstandings regarding her being cursed, and while her efforts to befriend others frequently failed, she was able to get through to a number of her classmates.
Sawako would do just about anything for those she considers friends. Not being accustomed to having friends, she is extremely moved by even small acts of kindness from them, and does her best to pay their generosity back by doing things such as baking cookies for them. She tends to overanalyze their actions, and considers herself incredibly lucky that such wonderful people would want to be friends with her.
Sawako comes across as incredibly innocent. It takes very little to make her happy, while adult concepts tend to go over her head, as was the case when she assumed the adult video that her homeroom teacher was renting was an educational video.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Sawako is intelligent and good at teaching others. Her grades are generally high, and she is able to explain things in such a way that even those at the bottom of the class can understand. She is also suited to feminine activities such as knitting, cooking, and cleaning. She does everything to the best of her ability, and is more than happy to use her abilities in order to help her classmates
Furthermore, Sawako has the ability to see the good in everyone. This does not mean that she is not a doormat, as when the people and things important to her are at stake, she displays courage and an eagerness to defend those she cares for. However, she is also able to empathize with and forgive her enemies.
Unfortunately, Sawako has been poor at interacting with others since childhood. Her creepy appearance makes her difficult to approach, and her attempts to talk to others frequently end with them apologizing and running away. Thanks to her poor social skills, when trying to clear up misunderstandings, she occasionally phrases things in such a way that the misunderstanding actually worsens.
Sawako’s low self-esteem makes it difficult for her to believe that someone could see her in a romantic light, and she has trouble distinguishing her own feelings of love from those of friendship. Even once she does manage to recognize that her feelings for Kazehaya are more than platonic, she is far too shy to admit to these feelings, and she manages to completely misunderstand his rather obvious attempt at asking her out.
During the sports festival, she is shown to be surprisingly quick, as she almost appears to be performing a flash step.

First Person Sample:
I can see ghosts now! I’m sure everyone will be very excited when I tell them. And it’s such a cute ghost, too! Oh…but I wonder if I’ll actually be able to see them again someday. I might be stuck here forever…
No, thinking like that won’t do me any good! I’ll have to keep moving if I want to find a way home!
Ummm…Misdreaveus-san, I believe it was? If you wouldn’t mind joining me, I’d be grateful. Then again, it might be an inconvenience to travel with someone like me, but if it wouldn’t be too much of a hassle, I’d appreciate your company.
Third Person Sample:
Sawako paced back and forth in front of the house which she had been so abruptly kicked out of, both hands clenched around the straps of the bag which that very kind, if slightly odd, woman had given her. She needed to get home, as her parents were bound to be in even more of a panic than she was over her disappearance, and she hated to cause them any unnecessary worry.
I wonder if Kazehaya-kun will be worried about me when I don’t show up for class today…
This thought caused her to stop her pacing, and she shook her head, face flushed. Of course Kazehaya-kun would be worried about her, if only because he was always concerned about everyone in the class.
“Oh! That’s right…I wonder what this bag is for…”
Placing the bag on the ground, Sawako knelt down and began to examine its contents. There seemed to be an awful lot crammed in there, but she certainly wasn’t complaining. At least the woman claiming to be her mother had been considerate enough to provide her with the necessities. Most of the items were ordinary enough, but the red and white ball, and small computer-looking device were odd, as were the books labeled, “Trainer’s Guide,” and “Breeder’s Guide.”
“I wonder what I should do with this,” she murmured, picking up the ball to examine it more closely.
Suddenly, the top sprung open, and a small creature, which rather strongly reminded Sawako of a ghost, appeared.
“Mis!” it declared happily.
“Misdreavus, the Screech Pokemon,” the computer lying on the ground informed her.
“Misdreavus…san?”
The creature seemed to nod, and Sawako smiled. It didn’t seem to be scared of her…But then, perhaps she should be more frightened of it? No, it didn’t seem to be malicious…
“Ummm…I’m going to find a place to sit down, so that I can start reading these guides. I’d like to get a bearing on where I am, if possible. If you’d like, you’re welcome to join me.”
