we are now in the less than a month phase. the count is about 25 to 28 days left in iraq, and i should be on leave sometime in early april, which is great. rumor has it we'll be given 30 days of leave, though i wont be taking more than 20, since i wanna save some for terminal. it doesnt matter much, though, since anything longer than the 12 days they gave us before coming here is a miricle in and of itself. our battery is renowned for being lead by a bunch of dickheads who would rather cause our never ending misery than give us even an average amount of time off.

speaking of heads that resemble the end of a penis, i got my barbers degree last night. ive been butchering callaway's hair the whole time we've been out here since there is no barber. he would cut mine, and then i would screw up his. it was like a tradition. well, last night, Lt. Essery needed a haircut badly and the onlyone around who had ever even touched a pair of clippers before was me. i gave him fair warning, but he insisted. i went to town on his hair with no comb, no guards, and with a pair of cheap clippers that had no adjustable blade lengths at all. i thought for sure i would never be able to fade hair without those tools, since i couldnt even do it with them to callaways head. well, it took me a while to figure it out, but by the time i was finished i must say his medium reg. haircut looked pretty good, with an excelent fade and everything. turns out, it wasnt my lack of skill or experience, but that callaways hair has the texture of lice infested sheeps wool. so that made me happy, because now i have an extra source of income when we are back in camp pendlton. see, regulations are such that we need a fresh haircut every monday, but come sunday afternoon, a good chunk of marines come begging anyone for a haircut, since they all forget to get one during their drunken wanderings through downtown san diego and have niether the money nor willpower to drag themselves back out to town for a buzz cut. you can make about 5 bucks a head like that, or get the broke ones to do menial tasks for you. its great, and now for once i am going to be on the recieving end, not the paying end of this modern form of endentured survitude.

lifes awesome.
