Well, i saw The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe yesterday. it was, as all the new movies i see out here, hajified, meaning it was an iraqi bootleg from europe somwhere. it had the usual haji bootleg problems (caughing, people walking by, the camera shaking, not quite straight/centered) but it also had a new one: incompletness. aparently, the person doing the taping either cut parts out due to extreme interuption or because he was getting low on film and wanted to stretch it out, but the last 20 to 30 minutes or so went somthing like this. Aslan is walking to the stone table with lucy and susan, then it jumps to the battle the next day, then the battle is about to start. just as the leopards colide with the enemy cheatas it cuts over to aslan being "resurected" totally missing an epic battle. im ok with that, though, cause i know how the battle comes out anyway, and ive seen enough supurb CG fighting that i can sacrifice and make do this once. next, that little shit, ed, is hurt and diing, but lucy is applying the medacine and....they're in cair paravel being crowned? thats a pretty big jump! alright, i can roll with it, though. then we go through the crowning. aslan has a little mini-speachlike crowning thing where he asigns each child a cardinal direction, a natural feature(mountains wooods, sea, you know, the stuff thats in each direction) and their title. its all really cool, cause the actual crowning part isnt elaborated on very much in the book. seriously, i actually got a copy and checked, its jsut sort of skimmed over in C.S. Lewis's classic to the point style of writing. so i'm sitting here, enjoying myself, Aslan goes through all the kids and as he gets to peter.....all of a sudden they're in the woods, grown up and on horse back. i mean, COME ON!! not only do i miss a good chunk of it, but now i have no clue whats going on? of course, by the time i make the conection that they are hunting the white stag, then i'm a little settled. so they go on to find the lamp post, and are all peering into the woods in the direction of the wardrobe door.....and all of a sudden its the credits. MAN was i pissed at this. i almost had a mind to go back to Muamed (the guy wo sells te bootlegs) and demand my money back, only to realize that te 1.50 i paid for it wasnt worth the walk. *sigh*

aside from quality problems, though, i loved the movie, and it sparked me to reread the whole series, which, little known fact, was the first books i had ever read by myself, and are probubly the spark for my whole fantasy based disposition on entertainment. if only i had read more books about baseball, or perhaps some of those money making brochures? anyway, the rereading will have to wait till i get back to the states, as i only have the lion witch and the wardrobe out here, not the whole box set like i do back home.

on the subject of books, i finished pandora star, and i must say, if any of you out there have ever enjoyed a sci-fi, mystery, or political book then you have got to read this one at all cost. i used to introduce people to Ender's Game when they said they didnt like scifi books, but now i will swear by pandora star. it was slow, at first, but once i was 300 pages into it and each chapter was still introducing a whole new set of main charactors, i knew it was gonna be setting up for somthing big, and Peter F Hamilton definatly delivered. i found out the sequel, judas unchained, is due to be released in february, and ive already got my copy on order, so go read Pandora Star now so you can read Judas Unchained right away!!! DO IT!!

no real new iraq news. i updated my pictures. they are in an album that is titled new iraq pics. im going to keep them there until i get more photos to post, at which time those will go to respective albums. i'll keep repeating this so everyone can have a one stop easy access point for the new photos. i know how much of a pain it is to shuffle through each album searching for new entries, especially whene verything in this whole country is sand colored. thats all for now.
