That experience has justifiably got Feenie all shook up. He goes into the kitchen to get some water or something and then he hears that voice...

"Hey... were you...?"

Reese might smile a bit, disarmingly, but there's a dryness to his expression. "Was I the guy who saved you from that maniac with the garden tool? Yeah, that was me. I was just turning the corner when I saw them rush you," he says. "I was about to try and grab them, but then I saw the light on their blade: had to take some drastic measures."

"...Did you shoot that thing that attacked me?" Phoenix asks.

"Seemed like a fair enough way to teach them about using garden tools to attack an unarmed guy," Reese replies. "Took more than a few shots to disarm them, whatever they were, but a few well-placed punches helped them take a hint. Hope the gardener who looks after the grounds doesn't miss that sickle: I may have hidden it where that Victorian glam kid can't find it."

"Great..."

Silence for a moment. "He---She... sounded familiar a tiny bit. Like I've met that person before."

Reese takes that in, raising an eyebrow in curiosity. It's been a while since he did any decent investigating, and he's taken a personal interest in the young guy. Saving someone's life will do that to him. "Someone you know, wearing a disguise?" he asks.

"Something like that..." Phoenix thinks for a while.

OH GOD, I think I know who it is...

"Made any enemies that you know of, in this place?" he asks. "Been my experience, most times that people are attacked, it's by someone they know."

"No..." Not that he knows of. Feenie is sometimes oblivious like that.

"Could be anything, even something that looks small and unimportant: people sometimes get a beef with others over the stupidest little things," he says. "Handled cases like that."

"I know that too..." He thinks for a good while.

"I've been rude, you saved my life I didn't give you my name..." He offers a hand to shake. "Phoenix Wright, Attorney at Law."

He'll set down the cleaning brush and accept the handshake. "John Rooney, private investigator," he says. "You defense or prosecution?" Translation: you got my back, or should I tread lightly around you?

"Pleased to meet you Mr. Rooney. I'm Defense." Now, keep in mind Phoenix comes from a world where the legal system is horrifically bias to the prosecution.

"Gotta be tough work, clearing people's name or seeing that someone gets a fair trial," Reese replies, his respect for the younger man increasing.

"Oh you don't even know... what do you do?" Phoenix wonders.

[cantplaygod]

"Back in my world, been working as a private investigator mostly, but I've been working security for a very reclusive billionaire software engineer, one of those little guys who look like math professors, but they've got as much money as a small European country," he says, somewhat dryly. "Was an Army Ranger before that, but I was honorably discharged. Had some personal stuff I had to take care of."
