R.I.P. My dearest Uncle.

Last night, my dear (great) Uncle, Rev. Dr. G. Thalian, passed away.  I was fortunate enough to visit with him during my trip to India in December.  He was a funny and sweet old priest.

The following is an exerpt from a biography a friend of his wrote as an introduction to one of my Uncle's books.

"Dr. G. Thalian is an unostentatious and unassuming character.  He is a prolific writer, writing and publishing over 100 books (mostly in Malayalam... 3 of them are in English.)  I think the most astonishing part is that published all these books himself without getting any help from anywhere or from anybody.  At times, he sacrificed his comforts and conveniences just for publishing his works.  I am told that except for the recent books, all the old ones have sold out like U2 tickets.  His books deal with a variety of subjects such as Bible, Church History, Christian spirituality, Moral Theology, Moral Science, Constructive criticism, Anecdotes and Comedy.  He's pretty much covered almost every subject under the sun."  - Fr. I. Arokiasamy

I've read the three books he wrote, and the least I can say that my Uncle was a very wise, poetic and humorous man.  He also was the priest that blessed my parents' wedding.

"Without the day, there is no night and without night, there is no day.
Similarly there are sorrows and happiness in our life, too.
Sorrow and happiness are the two sides of our life like both sides of the same coin."
    -Dr. G. Thalian
