My elderly Aunty and Uncle (Dad's sister & husband) live with my cousins in Pune.
My cousin regularly sends pictures of moments with them, supplemented with the story behind the picture. This is what he sent today. He refers to my Uncle and Aunty as Daddy and Mummy.
"I was making chammandi (chutney) for the idli (for breakfast). In the background I could hear Daddy explaining to Mummy something, and it sounded interesting. It was about
Vishwakarma and what it means. So I left the kitchen and had a closer look. It was a long explanation and Mummy was all ears (with the keenness of a 9 year old girl).
I thought I should not miss this, so dashed off for the camera, got some shots and some knowledge about Vishwakarma. It seems all the Aashan, Kushan, Thattan, Kaniyan come under the Vishwakarma. Then there was sub group explanation about Kushan, and Kaniyan and what exactly their job was supposed to be.
And . . . . . hey wait a minute, whats that smell, oh no.. . . . . I dashed back to the kitchen in time to see my oil for tadka getting 'karingi'-fied (burnt).
But what is a spoonful of oil in exchange for some knowledge and catching some precious moments with a loving couple who is carrying on with life in their own pace."
Life is about these moments. Capturing them is a blessing. And my cousin always does such an exceptional job of catching
the moments! Absolutely wonderful!
