Bridge School concert

hm...so i can safely say i had the most kick-ass Saturday ever.

so like a month before, Jesse's like, don't make any plans for October 21st! it's a surprise!
and the 21st isn't any particular special day or whatever, not anniversary, not anyone's birthday, blahblah.
so i was like, okay. and kind of forgot about it, and so the 21st came..

we took like, four hours of public transportation: the BART, the Caltrain, then a local bus, and then walked...to...
the Bridge School Benefit concert in Mountainview.. which is a concert put together by Neil Young for the Bridge School which teaches kids with cerebral palsy.
and here was the lineup:

Gillian Welch
Devendra Banhart
Death Cab for Cutie
Trent Reznor (the nine inch nails trent reznor)
Foo Fighters
Pearl Jam
Brian Wilson (from the beach boys)
Dave Matthews Band
Neil Young

we got there in time to see everyone from Death Cab onward. which is pretty much all that i wanted to see.
but yeah... it was amazing... and not only that..

but somehow Jesse had connections to get VIP passes backstage... where from time to time, Dave Grohl and the other Foo Fighters would just be walking around...

and the drummer from Dave Matthews Band was there talking to people, and Jesse got to talk to him (which made him go kind of hyperventilate-y...hhahah).
and after the show, we got to meet Neil Young's son, Ben, who got to sit up on stage because he was in the Bridge School and his dad is friggin Neil Young. and Ben had a drumstick that the Dave Matthews Band drummer used, and he gave it to Jesse. so how the drumstick is sitting beside me... oohhh... how nifty is that. A tidy bundle of sticks that are kind of all splintered and scratched up because they were used by the Dave Matthews Band in concert.

at this one point backstage, we were kind of watching these little TVs they had that were showing videos of the Bridge School and past concerts and stuff between band sets. and so Jesse, me, Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters drummer were just kind of standing there in a semi circle, watching the little TV above which had a few clips of past concerts, and the Foo Fighters showed upa couple of times because they had done this before. and Jesse was like, hey guys, great show! and the drummer was like, oh thanks man, and Grohl was kind of stoned-ish and he was like... huh..well... why didn't you clap when you saw me on screen?? and gave this offhand hoarse laugh-ish, and then was like, hawhaw.. thanks... and stalked off. it was kind of funny.

and i think i saw death cab's ben gibbard kind of walk around backstage too when were there.

yep. soo..... anyone else have a weekend to beat that?
i thought not.

oh, man. more perks to having Jesse than i initially realized.
