Open for all to read.

IC INFORMATION

NAME; Vergil Sparda
SERIES/FANDOM; Devil May Cry

APPEARANCE; Regal, intimidating, and stone cold, Vergil is the twin son of Sprda who tries too much to emulate his father. Vergil dresses much like a prince would, his ego preventing him from looking "normal" by any circumstances. He also goes to extreme lengths to look nothing like his brother, going so far to dress in polar opposite colors and keeping his hair slicked back. Vergil is often seen dressed in long, blue coat with three tails, a silver snake-like pattern adoring the front, gold buttons on the sleeves, fingerless gloves, blue leather pants, blue vest, and knee-high boots. Pale skin, pale blue eyes, and pristine white hair complete his stoic look. Vergil is never seen without his heirloom blade, Yamato.

PERSONALITY; A controlling half-demon who praises himself on his ability to remain cool, calm, and collected in any situation, Vergil is a deadly and dangerous foe. Most would think the child of a devil insane, but he thinks sanity is a matter of opinion. A fierce fighter, with the confidence and ego to back his amazing abilities, Vergil would rather slit his own throat than go down without a fight. Perhaps the only person to ever come close to besting him is his own brother, but pride is a wicked thing, and Vergil would never admit to it. Also an exceptional swordsman, the elder Sparda twin has a strong disdain for guns.

Along with generally seeming heartless, a bit brutish, and extremely irritable, Vergil is also very ambitious. Once he has a goal in mind, he will not stop persuing it until the task is completed or he's killed. Of course, trying to deter him from anything is the same as trying to move a mountain with only human hands. Vergil is a half-demon with a complex who's looking out for number one, willing to be evil or good in the name of what he wants.

HISTORY; It could be said that Vergil was "lost to evil" as a child after witnessing the gruesome death of his and Dante's mother at the hands of his father's enemies. For reasons yet unknown, Vergil was separated from Dante, and did not see his twin brother again for about a decade. A lingering fear of loss and intense desire for revenge made the deadly serious half-demon increasingly hungry for power. He went on to study his father's legend and learned of his father's power that had been sealed away in the demon tower, Temen-ni-Gru. He would become a full demon in the process, but that didn't matter. Vergil was ready to give up everything in order to gain the power he needed to conquer his father's enemies once and for all.

The elder Sparda twin spent much of his time scouring libraries for anything that might help him gain the power of a full demon-- like his father, the great Dark Knight Sparda. In one such library, he met Arkham (a mysterious man of immense arcane knowledge). The two struck a deal to help each other; Vergil needed the information in the man's head and Arkham wanted to stay alive throughout his quest.

Arkham had previously told Vergil that the key to accessing Sparda's power lay in the matching amulets Eva had given to her two sons. A year before the events leading to Temen-Ni-Gru's rising, Vergil made preparations to open the road to Hell--unfortunately to be halted by his brother, Dante. Vergil had stolen Dante's amulet, intending to walk away with it. When Dante couldn't--or refused--to shoot him, the elder twin knew he could take it anytime because his little brother was weak. The brothers parted ways that day, each with their own amulet safely guarded.

Vergil and Arkham prepared to make their final move a year later by reviving the great tower of Temen-Ni-Gru. It wasn't long before Dante came to investigate. The demonologist went to greet the younger Sparda twin, while Vergil stayed behind and cleared a path through the tower.

Eventually, Vergil would notice that he and Arkham happened to have an uninvited guest -- a human woman. Knowing this girl had some connection with the man he was protecting, Vergil tells Arkham to kill her. Arkham goes, leaving Vergil be.

Shortly after, Dante catches up with Vergil on the top of the tower, and proceeds to have a "family reunion," the likes of which only demons can have. After a fierce battle, both twins are drained from fighting but it's Vergil who proves to be more tenacious in the end. Vergil stabs Dante, grabs the amulet from around his throat, and leaves his twin to bleed out on the tower.

SAMPLE

Breath in. Breath out. Deep breaths, stay calm. Swordsmanship is nothing but an extension of demeanor. The blade is part of the body; strays when the mind is crazed, flies straight and true during peace.

It could be considered scary how efficient and deadly Vergil is with his blade. There is no mercy in the way he cuts down foes, going from blind spots in an instant. It's about conserving time and energy, not how flashy one can make a death.

Vergil was sure a certain someone would heartily disagree.

It is said a master of the sword can spend 3 whole minutes in a duel with his opponent before their prey is defeated. Vergil spends less than 10 seconds on each of the demons before him, leave behind a path of gore and destruction.
