So we all know that Mel caught Angelus
But what if she decided to stake him instead?
It took Mel a moment as she stood over Angelus's body before she finally decided what to do. The label that read "Clyde" on her stake made it an easy decision.
"Fuck it," she said raising her arm in the air and aimed for his heart.
Faith hadn't stopped running since she landed back in this town. Angelus? What the shit? She skipped out for two fuckin' days and Angel switched coasts!? Figured. Two month dry spell and now there were vamps all over the place.
Had to be somewhere, everyone was looking, she had to get there first, fuckdamn this place was big for a fucking island where was he where the fuck was --
A stake raised high, flying downwards, and Faith's blood ran cold.
"No!" she screamed, leaping towards Mel and praying she didn't miss.
Mel hit the ground hard, her head bouncing off the pavement. She pushed herself up to her knees and growled at Faith. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"Stopping you," Faith said, gasping for breath as she glared down at the other Slayer.
Mel glared at the other slayer. "He doesn't have a soul any more and he put Willow in a coma," She said standing up. "Now get out of my way so I can finish this."
"Then someone will get him his soul back," Faith said sharply. "Until then we lock him in a fuckin' cage so he can't eat anybody."
"Screw that," Mel snapped and went to push Faith out of the way. "He's just another fucking lurk."
Faith grabbed the arm that shoved her, digging her fingers in. "Not your call," she announced through gritted teeth.
"I kind of think it is," Mel said shoving her roughly.
"Think again," Faith snapped, holding her fists out in front of her. "Put the stake down and walk away."
"Yeah. I don't think so."
And that would be a punch coming towards Faith's face.
Faith's head snapped back as the punch connected. She took a breath and tightened her hold on Mel's other arm.
"Nice," she said icily. "You gonna fuckin' calm down now, or do I gotta kick your ass?"
"This isn't your business," Mel growled. "Now back off!"
Which was punctuated with a headbutt.
"All right," Faith said, staggering backwards. "Ass-kicking it is."
She grabbed handfuls of Mel's hair and jerked them downwards as her knee flew up towards Mel's midsection.
Mel stumbled to the ground with a grunt and then lashed out with a kick towards Faith's kneecap. "Fuck off!"
Fuck, that fucking hurt, and Faith faltered before landing roughly on all fours. "Bitch," she spat.
She got to her feet, teetering a little, and then dashed forward for a kick right to the other girl's ribs.
Mel grabbed the leg and yanked Faith to the ground. "Stay down and keep out of my way."
"Go fuck yourself." Faith twisted as she fell, pitching forward in an effort to land something on Mel. Preferably a fuckin' elbow.
The blow hit Mel in the chest and she snapped her head back on the ground, lashing out blindly at Faith with her fist. "Go to hell!"
Fucking ow her shoulder was gonna be fucked up later. No time to think about that now.
Faith grabbed the opportunity to straddle Mel, getting her hands on the other Slayer's arms and holding them down.
"We gonna do this the easy way, or we gonna do this the hard way?" she demanded.
"Get off me," Mel snarled. "I'm not letting him get away with this."
"He gets his soul back, he's gonna hate himself more than you do right now," Faith said. "You dust him, it's over."
"Not my rutting problem," Mel spat. "He's too dangerous and you know it."
"I don't give a damn what you think I know," Faith said, eyes narrowing. "How dangerous he is, what he fuckin' did to your best friend. You wanna know what I do know? I fuckin' owe him, and I don't care what the hell he did, you're not staking him. You got a problem with that, you're gonna have to take me out first."
"And if it was Dawn, I bet we wouldn't be having this conversation," Mel snapped back. "Now get off me before he wakes up."
Silence. "Did he hurt Dawnie?"
"Changes the picture, doesn't it?" Mel snarked. "What if he did? Would you be stopping me?"
Faith slammed her fist down on Mel's jaw. "How about you stop playing Twenty Fucking Questions and deal with what's really happening."
Mel's head bounced off the ground when the fist struck her jaw. "She's fine!" Mel snarled. "Buffy pulled her out of here once she heard Angelus was in town. Doesn't that say something to you?"
"Buffy used to fuck him," Faith snapped. "She's not Miss Impartial here."
She took a deep breath. "Listen. When he doesn't have a soul, he's crazy, he's evil, you bet, total fucking bastard. And when he does have a soul, he spends all his time going around trying for redemption. Trying to earn back the cost of all the shit he did. Trying to reach people everybody else fuckin' gave up on as a lost cause."
In a quieter voice, she added, "Like me."
Mel was quiet for a moment. "So that spell thing. It actually works then. For him."
Faith nodded, swallowing hard. "Last time, I poisoned myself and let him drink from me, so they could bring him in and work that spell mojo. Spent a while in a coma, wandering around his head doing some trippy mystic shit. I'd do it again, if I had to." Another deep breath. "Yeah. It works for him."
Mel stared at Faith for a moment or two. "Fine. Let me go. We don't have much time before that blast he took wears off."
Faith waited a few seconds, trying to decide if the other girl was just trying to trick her.
Fuck it.
She got up slowly, favoring her knee, and extended a hand to Mel.
Mel took the hand and scrambled to her feet. "C'mon. You can help me drag him to the police station," she said as she rubbed her jaw.
"Though we do have time for a quickie in the back alley."
"I thought you'd never ask," Faith grinned, sliding an arm around Mel's waist.
And the real tragedy for Angelus now was that there were now two slayers having hot sexxors right in front of him and he was too unconscious to notice it.
Woe.
