Yeah, baby! Not totally lost! You can win it!
Oh, how I missed the NBA when I was in England. Paul says you can watch it there (which you can), but I am honestly not dedicated enough to watch games at 3am, or whatever random time they showed them on Channel 5 there. Especially since it was rarely my team. Anyway.
I was like *thisclose* to winning tickets to the game tonight. Well, sort of. See, there was a bar near my work that had this radio station giving away a pair of tickets. I had my name in the draw, yet did not win. I did get some t-shirts that said: "WEAPRESENT LOS ANGELES" in the Lakers' colours.
Yeah, I don't know either. I am truly baffled on what that means. Maybe I am just a bit clueless here.
In other news, it's superdiscount time at work, so of course I overspent. Got loads of new books (yay!) and just finished I Love You, Beth Cooper, which was entertaining, but it didn't strike a chord with me. I am just not geekboy loser enough, shockingly. I never cared about high school, nor was I unpopular. A lot of the humour was lost on me. But it wasn't bad. I am currently working on The Far Pavilions, as recommended by a co-worker of mine. Historical, epic romance set to a thousand pages? I absolutely LOVE this sort of thing. I look forward to it.
Oh, I also borrowed Goodbye 20th Century from work, which is the Sonic Youth biography. I did not know Kim Gordon and Danny Elfman were high school sweethearts. Like, whoa! That's pretty awesome. Talk about being a supercouple. Still, I think Kim and Thurston Moore are an awesome supercouple anyway, but that's supercoupling it in a totally different way. I mean, high school sweethearts, for dude's sake! Amazing music, in different ways. It blew my mind, yo.
In sale news, I also got the Santagold CD, along with Hot Chip's latest and Scott Walker 4 on CD. Never mind the shopping binge I went on at Amoeba recently (which only came to $50 -- that's good, considering how much I bought). And a dress. And a shirt. And new work shoes as mine went bust. Oi.
I shop, therefore I am.
Yup, I am back in SoCal.
